The National Park Service has made a decision to allow snow mobiles continued access in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

In Indiana 2 years ago, a bill was passed into law requiring voters to show a government issued I D.

There are 227 juveniles serving life without possibility of parole in California. They committed these crimes before they were 18 years old.

A study was done and the US beats every other country with juveniles serving life sentences. There are now 2,387 incarcerated. Israel is second , they are the only country besides the US that sentences juveniles to life terms. Black juveniles are 10 times more likely to receive life sentences in California. Blacks are 20 times more likely to get the sentence.

KIDS SHOCKED AT SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL

The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center in Canton, Mass. , is using shock therapy on students. And the parents are o k with this because they can't control their kids. This is the last stop for these special education students when no other schools can deal with them.

The parents say that this is the only school that teaches their child how to behave, not just keeping them doped up. It costs over 200 thousand a year per student for care. There is an enrollment of more than 200 children.

The students wear backpacks with a device that will allow staff members to deliver shocks to electrodes attached to limbs,torso,feet and psalms. I thought this therapy was stopped years ago. The kids parents have o k'ed this, so I guess the kids have no rights.

THE GRINCHES WHO STOLE MY CHRISTMAS : J.C. PENNEYS AND ANNA'S LINENS

I am complaining about the stores that took away my joy of Christmas time. I ordered table linens and home decor from Anna's linens on November 19th. Two weeks later I called to track the order and they said they never received it.

I reordered it and was waiting for it, and I called on December 22nd to track the order, and they said the order was pending. I asked what that meant and she said on Saturday's the shipping department was closed, so she couldn't tell me.

She said maybe they were waiting for all my items to ship out my order. I had been waiting everyday for my package to be delivered. I cancelled my order. Also I ordered some cookware as a Christmas gift from J C Penney"s. They were out of stock. I called back a week later to see if they were now in stock,

I was told they were shipped out on the 4th of December. On the 18th of December I called to track the order and was told they were out of stock and I was given the wrong information. They did have an invoice, but they didn't know why.

I had people back east looking out for the arrival every day. Neither store told me that I would not have these gifts so I could get something else, like a gift card or something. I will never order anything from these stores again.

SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL'S GRAND DAUGHTER DIES

Sir Winston Churchill's granddaughter died in the UK yesterday. Arabella Spencer-Churchill, 58, was the founder of the "Children's World Charity". She died at her home in Glastonbury after a bout of pancreatic cancer.

Her 34 year old son, Nicholas Jake Barton,was not able to be with her. He has been sentenced to at least 20 months in jail in Australia for his part in a 15 million dollar ecstasy supply operation.

Spencer- Churchill was also Governor of the Avalon Special School. She married James Barton in August 1972 and later renowned juggler Ian "Huggist". She was a buddhist. She was survived by a son and daughter.

New Zealand police are working with the FBI in an international investigation over a multi-million dollar Cyber crime ring. An 18 year old New Zealander was supposedly involved. He was questioned by the police in November.

He was suspected of being "AKIII" ringleader of a "botnet" and has infected a million computers with a virus-that resulted in a 26 million-plus loss. The attack included the University of Pennsylvania.

There has been a study in Germany that supports this fact. A common protein in semen attaches onto cells and increases the risk of infection.

in the U.S. to defend it's patent of CRESTOR. The generic drugs are made by companies when the patent expires.

The action was filed in the Delaware U.S. District Court. Crestor is one of AstraZeneca's 5 top selling drugs. The company has seen profits sink to1.34 billion dollars. In the future they plan to cut 7,600 jobs.

Do you care? When some workers are in a union and they endorse a certain candidate, they forbid the employees to display the opposition's banners or bumper stickers. Most workers don't care who the endorsers are at this point of the game. Years ago they might have, but now there is so much distrust, it doesn't matter.

When I hear of the endorsements, I block them out. I have my own mind and will not let someone else control it. It seems like Leiberman is paying the Democrats back because they didn't support him last time around. McCain does seem like the only one who isn't using double talk like the other candidates are.

Now is the time to bring out the movie "PRIMARY COLORS" again !!! With the surprising announcement that was put out by Clinton's camp, you will see that the tatics are the same. It seems that Obama is inching ahead, so now is the time to start playing dirty.

With the campaign worker stepping down, it seems he was made the patsy. Now some of the candidates are going to play dirty. But I think people are loyal to their candidates, and it doesn't matter how dirty they play, it doesn't mean they will get the vote.

Sometimes they have a lot of anger against the storyteller. So I think this will backfire against the Clinton campaign. People don't care about what you have done in the past, it's what are you doing now, and what will you do in the future. It doesn't matter how much dirt a person digs up on a candidate, because they already know who they are going to vote for.

And it doesn't necessarily mean they are going to vote for Obama and Clinton. I like Ron Paul and Joe Biden. It seems that Huckabee is putting his foot in his mouth lately, so I don't know if I would vote for him.

I hope that everyone will rent this movie or read the book "Primary Colors" and they will know what a typical election is like, with all the greed, corruption, and deceit and lies.

IKE TURNER , A ROCK AND ROLL LEGEND

Ike Turner 76, passed away at his home in San Marcos, California. He and ex-wife Tina were on top in the 50's and 60's.

My sister was a member of the Ikettes when they were an opening act for the 1969 Rolling Stones Tour in Europe. Ike had an ear for music. He was a great musician.

There were only three times that I have heard "The Sound". James Brown, Etta James, and Ike Turner. They had the greatest bands. They didn't even have to sing, their bands were so great.

Alan Keyes is the only guy that goes for everything that the right wants. He announced his bid for the presidency in September, but I guess the press didn't know of it. They have always dismissed him.

There is no shoo-in for either party. Alan Keyes has all the right answers and is a great debater. He is anti-abortion and anti-gay rights. Maybe the right thinks he is all they have left because the other candidates have baggage and Keyes seems squeaky clean.

Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas is calling Anita Hill his "most traitorous adversary". I guess he thought she was his friend because, every department he went to work for, she came along and worked.

Anita Hill accused Thomas of sexual harassment that supposedly happened in 1983 when she worked for him. He was appointed and confirmed to the Supreme Court despite her testimony in the senate hearings . I am wondering if she would have turned against him if he had gotten her a job at the Supreme Court ?

I am not a fan of Clarence Thomas, but I believe he was not guilty.

Mr. Smith goes to Washington, Frank Capra's 1939 classic movie starring James Stewart. That's what we dream about. The guys we get back are not the ones we send up to the White House.

They are polished and slick and can only speak from a prepared speech. That's why people don't care about voting. They don't think there is a single person in Washington that cares about them.

Usually if a young and naive person goes to Washington it is not long before you will see a monster return. It's a struggle between good and evil. When we were kids, we loved the war movies, Frances the talking mule , Bob Hope and the Uso . We looked up to politicians and believed everything they said.

We were so patriotic and loved the meaning of America. In those times, if a politician said they were going to do something, they did it. We had buses with loudspeakers telling people to come out for a ride to vote. We would canvass the streets for our candidate.

WHY DID IMUS HAVE TO HIRE TWO BLACK COMEDIANS!!!

I do not think he had to do this. If he comes back to T. V . , I might watch . I had no problems with Imus. He let Bernie do all the skits and the insults. Bernie and Sid had his blessings, I guess.

Imus did a lot of good things, he had them clean up Walter Reed and raised funds for his wife's charitable causes. Also he helped raise money for the Vets in Texas.

I guess his show was for the guys, like in a locker room. He discussed sports mainly. Raised money through his celebrity bouts. I think that the two comedians he has hired will be worse than the rappers and will always use the "N" word.

The politicians loved the show because it was free publicity and they could be seen. But if he thought they were lying, he would tell them so. He did not like for a person to beat around the bush and give half an answer.

I really liked Charles. He was a no-nonsense guy. He was not raunchy like to rest of the guys. I thought more people would come to the aid of Imus from his co.workers , but in the reports I had read, he treated them badly.

Just like Senator Craig, Imus had no one to vouch for his character. They all shied away. I think Bernard was the one to pay because he said it. Imus just went along with it. I know McCain wanted him back on before the primary so he could go on the show.

MEAT PACKING PLANTS RECRUITING FROM PUERTO RICO

They are saying illegals are taking away jobs from Americans. That has been found not to be true. Many Americans cannot stomach the work.

Cargill Meat packing plant in Illinois ran ads in Puerto Rico. Company officials flew there to conduct interviews. Puerto Ricans are good candidates because they are U S citizens and have experience. A plant closed a year ago leaving many unemployed.

IS WHOOPI TRYING TO SAVE SHERRY ?

Is Whoopi trying to help or hurt Sherry ? It seems that Whoopi doesn't think Sherry is keeping up with world events . It seems like she doesn't know what the show is about. She is not preparing for the next day's show. It takes more than smiling and agreeing with everyone else. I think Whoopi is mentoring Sherri.

It looks like Whoopi is taking her questions from "What Every 5th Grader Should Know "! Maybe Whoopi's grandkids know the answers to these questions. I don't watch the show but , I see comments or highlights on late night cable.

PAT BUCHANAN IS HE THE MAN ?

Pat Buchanan is the man who should have been president. We as a country should have listened to him long ago. But it seems like he would not do the bidding of the big whigs in this country, so they blocked him. They said he was an isolationist.

10,000 new names will be added to this list. It specializes on info from documents from departure countries, instead of countries where they arrived. This will simplify the search and speed it up. Many times people do not know what town or city ancestors are from.

THE NATIONAL DEBT IS OUT OF HAND

The National Debt is growing at $1.4 billion a day. Thats $1 million a minute. Currently the National Debt is $9.13 trillion. The baby boomers are just now beginning to tap into their social security and their pensions.

Now they are talking about cutting the pensions and social security.How are we going to live ? What about our children and grandchildren? Something has to be done to curb spending. Or life as we know it now, will become a blurb.

DENNIS QUAID SUEING PHARMACEUTICAL FIRM OVER BLOOD THINNER DRUG

Dennis Quaid is sueing Baxter Healthcare Corporation in Deerfield, Illinois for product liability. The packaging on different doses are nearly indentical.He wanted recalls because three children died in Indiana from the same drug, but the company refused.



Baxter Healthcare called on medical facilities to educate their personnel on the drug. Cedars-Sinai is a very prestigous hospital in Los Angeles. In my area there were some deaths from the same drug.



I think some of the nurses also work 16 and 18 hour days.More attention needs to be paid to that fact also.

MILLS FIFTEEN MINUTES OF FAME ARE OVER

I think Heather Mills fifteen minutes of fame are over. She keeps trying to reinvent herself. Paul has gone on with his life and does not have to do something to garner interest.

I think that Heather thinks she is on the same level as Paul. But she has just had a rude awakening.

Since the subprime loans have been a bust, now a large Mortgage and Loan Corporation has introduced a new tatic to keep from going under.

The company has announced that they will give you a refinance that can include a car. You can make all of your credit payments in one swift stroke of the pen.

What if you miss a car payment? Will all of your obligations become due? The government closed their eyes the first time around, will they follow suite this time? I just can't believe it. It is always in favor of the big corporations instead of the little guy.

By the time this scheme falls through, there will be another one in the works. Just as I tell people when they buy those games like x box. They are now working on the next biggest thing for Dec 2008.

CALIFORNIANS ARE GETTING SHAFTED !!!

In 2004, I received a ballot and there was nothing but propositions in it. I called the registrar and said there was a mistake. I was told I could not vote for a candidate since I was not affiliated with any party.

The reason for being undeclared was I wanted to take my time and vote after I had researched each person. They said the reason for this was to make it an even playing field. It seems like some kind of blackmail to me.

They are going to force you to vote for a particular party. We have already had scandals in this area. People were complaining that after they registered to vote on the street, their affiliation was changed to the republican party, and they were democrats.

The signature gatherer changed the party after the person had signed. I was so upset that I threw the ballot in the trashcan. I did not vote at all . So I do not think third party candidates have a chance.

I was just notified by the Registrar of Voters in California, that I cannot vote in the February 2008 Primary Election unless I declare Democratic or Republican ticket.

Since I am a undeclared voter, I am not with a qualified political party. There is an important election law that pertains to "unaffiliated" voters for the February 5, 2008 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election.

Although you did not select a qualified political party when you registered to vote, some of the political parties will allow you to vote for their candidates anyway.

The political parties that are allowing unaffiliated voters to request and vote their party's ballot at the February 5, 2008 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election are:

IS ISIAH THOMAS ON HIS WAY OUT ??

A meeting was held yesterday between Madison Square Garden and owners of the New York Nicks. People were chanting "fire Isiah" . They were booing him, throwing batteries at his head, shouting,and calling him an asshole.

A Madison Square Garden official brought an effigy of Thomas, with a noose tied around his neck and a white shirt with the word devil written on it. He hung it from the ceiling.

The Knicks owner mooned Thomas. Thomas tried to keep his cool and said that "coaches go through this in New York City and you have to black it out". The board was upset because of the Sexual harassment conviction and other business decisions he has made.

AT LAST..... TO BREATHE AGAIN !!!

Last week I was wondering when I would be able to breathe again. I would have those coughing attacks from the fires. With the ash falling every day , on our lawns and cars, it was hard to breathe or go outside.

Yesterday I was looking out of the window at the tumbleweeds rolling across my lawn. And then there was a report of two lion cubs in the area. The fires are driving them to come into the neighborhoods to hunt for food.

And this morning I awoke to falling rain. It has been raining very steadily all day. Now I am watching to see if the water will come into my house.

People only think of earthquakes when they think of California, but we have all sorts of weather here.

I ask myself that a lot recently. I read the book review of the news anchor, Lee Thomas who has vitiligo.It starts with spots and then spreads to the entire body.There is no cure for it.

Since my journey into genealogy, I have found that one line the "Westbrook" ,family has this disease There is a makeup to blend in with your skin color available.Every time I see a white spot, I panic.

Dave Jansen of Good Gear Guide and P C World, both owned by IDG, said he was fired this month because his articles weren't getting enough web site hits. This seems to be the nail in the coffin for journalism.

Publishers in the past relied on circulation figures, but now with the web,they can see instantly how many people are reading the article. Journalists who are dismissed for not generating enough hits could sue for unfair dismissal if the company has 100 employees.

SHOULD REVERSE MORTGAGES BE BANNED ??

This is according to experts on debt. They are saying that it won't be long before the reverse mortgages will follow the path of the subprime loans. Reverse mortgages are different from conventional loans, In the reverse mortgages,the borrower makes no payments.

The principal and compounding interest are recovered when the borrower dies or sells their home. Reverse mortgages are increasingly being sold to seniors. Some groups say that these loans are targeting vulnerable customers.

If you were to get a reverse loan to buy a car, it could take 25 years to pay that loan off.

WHY IS TARGET ADVERTISING RECALLED TOYS FOR SALE !!!

There was an ad for the dots that were recalled recently. I guess they wanted to sell as many as they could instead of taking a loss.

Many resellers are still selling them. This toy has injured children. Is it all about the profit? The advertising department can always say they were never told that these toys were recalled.

Some heads will roll with this issue. The company should do something becausethe people that don't read newspapers are unaware of this toy having lead in it.

DENVER SCHOOLS MAY OFFER BIRTH CONTROL PILLS

The leaders in Denver want to issue birth control pills. This is supposed to prevent pregnacies and drop outs. Many students cannot afford health care, so when they are referred to clinics, they do not go.

Some groups are protesting the action. This makes the parents lose control of parenting and advising their children. In Texas, they want to pass a law to make it mandatory for girls over the age of 11 to get a vaccination to prevent venereal diseases.

And in Maryland parents were demanded that their children be vaccinated or do jail time. It seems that parents have no say-so on how to raise their kids.

MEXICO PROTECTING THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY

Mexico's president Felipe Calderon is planning to put 4.6 million dollars to work to curb logging and to protect Monarch Butterflies. This was a promise he made when he was elected to support the environment , economy, and tourism .

The butterflies migrate from Canada to Mexico every winter. Visitors come from around the world to see them. It is called the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve and will cover 124,000 acres of land. He has vowed to plant 250 million trees this year in his National Anti-Global Warming Plan.

It seems like a tactic by the corporations ,that on some three or four day weekends, you cannot get cash. When you go to the ATM it is unoperable or out of cash.

I think it is a ploy for you to charge, not to use debit cards or to get cash. Every store that you go to, asks you to get their credit card, for a discount, or credit.

MIKE TYSON IN PINK UNDIES ???

Former heavy weight boxing champion Mike Tyson is going to jail this week. He will have to wear pink socks, pink underwear and pink handcuffs.

Joe Arpario, the Maricopa County sheriff in Arizona, runs this jail and he has been dubbed "America's toughest sheriff".

Tyson only had a one day sentence. In Germany, at the concentration camps,the Nazi's made the homosexuals and sex offenders wear pink.

Investors in Asia have pulled out of risky assets. Yields on 3 month deposits have fallen to near 1 percent.

This has caused panic withdrawals from cd's and money market funds. Asian banks have been suspected to have had billion dollar losses from the U S Mortgage disaster.

We will have a need for 25,000 new homes a year for the next five years to meet the demand for housing. Lake Mead is the source of water now but the supply is dwindling.



Donald Trump will begin construction on a 300 million dollar project next year which will feature 1,000 hotel rooms, and 50 luxury condo units. The luxury units will have up to 10,000 square feet of space.



There will be restaurants and a spa. But there will be no casino. There are also a number of other luxury hotels under construction. I think there should be a moratorium on building at this time when we desparately need water. The new pipelines will cost millions of dollars.

Now only 8 per cent of Americans are bequesting to charities.Federal tax cuts are one reason. Another is because after all the telethons for 9/11 , some actors were critizied , especially by a Fox news show host, for not following through with the money trail.

The Red Cross said they were going to use some of the money for future incidents. They never said that when the money was being raised. Only after they came under fire for not distributing the money.

So when Katrina came, the well-heeled people gave to someone who was going there to distribute the money and goods themselves. They wanted to see the people who were affected directly get the money and not have to go to a "middle man."

KILMEADE KISSING UP TO COMBS FOR AN INVITE

Sean "P Diddy" Combs was on the Fox and Friends show promoting his contract with Ciroc Vodka. He will get a 50 per cent share of the profits. The deal could be worth 100 million for him.

Brian Kilmeade was just kissing up to Combs when he said he was giving a party. He said he wanted to go to the party. Then he jumped up and grabbed the vodka and ran off the set with it.

Kilmeade's co-hosts were looking in amazement that he would act like that. It was so unbecoming of a show host. Insinuating that he wanted to open the vodka right then.

AFTER 55 YEARS BEHIND BARS, A BRITISH PRISONER DIES

John Straffen 77 was a child killer. In 1952 he escaped from a high security hospital, & within a few hours he killed a 5 year old girl. He was in the hospital because he had killed 2 girls ages 9 and 6.

Straffen was sentenced to death at trial but the sentence was reduced to life because he was mentally ill and could not stand trial.He had the mental capacity of a nine year old.

ZIMBABWE CONCERNED ABOUT U.K. INVADING THEM

The government is accusing the U.K. of plotting to invade them & taking control of the country. Former British general Lord Guthrie said in a U.K. newspaper last week that he advised former P.M. Tony Blair against it.

FOX NEWS HOST BRIAN KILMEAD WANTS ANTI-WAR PROTESTORS TASERED OR BILLY CLUBED

On his morning show on Fox T V, Brian Kilmeade said that anti-war protestors such as the Code Pink protestors, should be clubed or tasered. He was discussing the protestors who heckled Hillary Clinton speech.

He said the protestors looked threatening. This was the next day after a 20 year old Maryland man died after being tasered by police

HOW CAN CHINA LET PEOPLE SELL USED CONDOM BANDS FOR PONYTAIL HOLDERS?

This is really disturbing to me. The bands are stronger than regular hair bands. And they are cheap. Up to 25 in a bag for 3 cents. Officials are worried that people might put the band in their mouths while combing hair to tie up.

These bands might carry STD's and HIV and other viruses. China has been under fire lately because of the lead-based toys that were sold in the U .S. These toys were recalled. We will see in a few weeks how much revenue China will gain from toy sales.

Mother's are now demanding toys that are not made in China. We'll see how far that goes.

Don't be fooled by these numbers. The powers that be in many cities under count or under report the numbers. It all has to do with tourism. Do you think people would go to Olympic Games and Conventions in these cities if they had a crime problem?

When I was in Hawaii, a tour bus was hijacked. Also someone fired a shot and it hit a window in my daughters room. My sister-in-law was in a bar with her friend and a guy asked them to go for a walk on the beach. When they got way out there, he pulled a gun on them and robbed them of all their money.

He said that's how he made his money. Another friend had just checked in a hotel and thought it was a bellsman at the door and opened it.

It was a man with a broken bottle and he demanded to cut her face if she did not give him all her money, and she did. There are some cities that I am surprised are not on the top ten, that should be.

Many of the cities in California are very safe because they are cities where a large amount of policemen live. They live in all of the cities mentioned .They have a large presence there. They drive their cars and motorcycles home at night. If someone leaves their garage door open , you can see the squad car or cycle.

CELL PHONES ARE KEEPING OUR COUNTRY AFLOAT

I think that cell phones are keeping our economy afloat. People think they are getting a deal when the companies are giving them away for free.

Some companies are giving away four or five to give to family and friends. When you look at the legal shows on T V, the majority of persons appearing before the judge are suing family and friends.

I do not have a phone because I never want to get caught up in that trap.When I was sick once my relatives called me every minute, to check on my condition. That month I owed 400 dollars and the next month I owed 300 dollars.

Thats when I got rid of the cell phone. I think I only need one is when I am traveling or on the highway.I am very appaled when I see parents paying 300 or 400 dollars a month for their kids cell phones.

Most of the time they are calling local phones or to friends that live only a couple of blocks away.

BANK HACKED BY PARTY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY

I called the bank and wondered why my card had not been renewed. They said they had no plastic and would be late printing them. They to go ahead and use them, no problem.

A month later I was still waiting, and they said the expiration date had been extended.One evening I was reading the letters to the editor section in the newspaper, and a person said the bank had been hacked.

The bank never notified customers so they could check their statments to see if there were any crimes committed against them.

UNION SENT SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER OUT IN MAILING

The union sent all membere a letter explaining that they had made this error. It seems that they should have some safeguards , like having some proofreading done. Or at least someone to sign off on documents.

The union suggested we contact the credit bureau to put a fraud alert on our credit report.

EVERYONE LOVES AN UNDERDOG - WILL NOT VOTE FOR CLINTON

Robert Novak say's Hillary has a bombshell to release on Obama. If she does release it and plays dirty politics, I will not vote for her.

People always loves the underdog and they want them to win. Right now I like Huckabee, Biden and Ron Paul. But who knows ?

SCATTERING ASHES AT AMUSEMENT PARKS

More and more people are scattering their family's ashes at amusement parks. They want to scatter them from the deceased person's favorite ride.

Disneyland has taken action to promptly vacuum up the ashes. This is a health hazard and I think it is very inconsiderate.

BOSTON'S OLD JAIL TURNED INTO A HOTEL

The new Liberty Hotel in Boston was formally the Charles Street Jail. Many features have been preserved in the 156 year old building.There were a few famous prisoners housed there.

The hotel will also have a restaurant. I wonder if there are any ghosts there?

SOME ENTERTAINERS PREFER TO BE PAID IN EUROS

Some entertainers are preferring to be paid in gold or euros. I believe this is very un-democratic, since our dollar is on the decline. Now Canadians are flocking here to shop, instead of the other way around.

I believe this is un-american, and a slap in the face of the average person who supports these entertainers.

WEALTHY HOMEOWNERS DIGGING THEIR OWN WELLS TO COMBAT DROUGHT

Wealth homeowners in N.C. are digging their own wells on their property. Local water companies are limiting use of water for personal use & for lawns.

Permits for wells have risen in the past few weeks. A local well driller has installed dozens of them. These hownowners will not have to follow the rules of the water companies.

DOES ANY OF THE EVANGELICALS AND RIGHT TO LIFE MEMBERS HAVE ADOPTED OR FOSTER CHILDREN?

I would like for that question to be answered before I consider who I would vote for. The conservatives have strong feelings about abortion, but do they put their money where mouth is?

Also how many of the legislators in South Dakota have adopted ophrans or foster care children? The Evangelicals now have so much turmoil swirling about their fellow members conduct, that people are undecided about 2008.

We will see in 2008 how much clout Pat Robertson and "Focus on the Family" has on the vote. It seems like to me that they think they can sway votes. But now I think they are losing steam with all the scandals going on.

FEMA WORKERS ORDERED TO STAY OUT OF TRAILERS.

FEMA has issued orders to their workers to stay out. of their trailers. The emission levels from the formaldehyde can cause nosebleeds, headaches & respiratory illnesses.

Thousands of people are still living in the trailers. The residents are afraid of moving out of the trailers into a hotel, because they will have nowhere to go when their time runs out. Many of them have sick children but there is nothing they can do.

HEALTH CARRIER STEPS UP TO PLATE

I was so very surprised to get a letter from my health care provider asking me if I needed any assistance. They said they were here to support me during the difficult time of the forest fires.

They said if I was displaced from my home, I could go to any facility. And if I needed any routine care, to call them. In all my years of membership, I cannot recall them being so supportive.

They even mentioned refills and lost prescriptions. I am very impressed.

I never thought we would ever see the time again, when people would be quarantined for T B They are guarded in a compound in South Africa with high fences and guards.

This strain of T B is incurable. The drugs that might help are years away from being released. Critics say the patients are being violated of their civil rights. And the quarantine is violating medical ethics.

Many of the people with this strain of T B die before they are tested and treated. By the time they are tested they have infected many people. Doctors Without Borders and other organizations say the government is downplaying the numbers of people infected.

The South African government says there were 343,000 cases in the year 2006.6,000 were drug resistant.The youngest patient is one years old.

VETS DENIED G.I.BENEFITS

Our vets are being denied their Chapter 30 G.I. and medical benefits. These benefits were promised to them when they enlisted.

Soldiers from the National Guard are taking a class action to get the benefits.You have to be on active duty for two years to get benefits. They are sent back to American soil five days earlier to void that action.

In the past, the National Guard was not considered active duty until 2005 when they were sent to Iraq for almost 800 days. This was short of the two years.

VETS DENIED G I BILL AND MEDICAL BENEFITS

Some veterans are now being denied G.I. and benefit rights. You have to be on active duty for two years , and they are brought back from Iraq five days early.

Every time "Dog "opens his mouth, he puts his foot in it. Now he is saying he didn't know which word to use when he rants. He says its because he has no education.

BIG BOX STORES LIKE CASINOS

The big box stores are like casinos. You never keep track of the time. You can shop and get samples of food, and have lunch. Before you know it, you have spent about six hours there.

There is something for everybody. I am going to ask all of the stores in my area to place clocks throughout the store. I don't think kids need to be in these sort of places for that length of time.

Kids need to be out in the sunshine and doing some kind of physical activity.

I couldn't wait until the Super Target opened in my town. It is so big, you can't see all of it in one day.

They have all of the conveniences that you need. When you need a break, you can go to the deli for a sandwich and get a latte at Starbucks. If your child wants a pizza, there's a snack bar there.

I have had some disapointments there though.Some of my organic fruits tasted of a sanitizer. I thought I was going to get sick. It seemed that the porta potty might have been right in the fields next to the produce.

Next I bought some peaches and they were rotten and I had to throw them away. On a follow up visit, I bought some tomatoe salsa andprotective covering under the lid was torn open, so I had to throw it in the trash.

I took some film to be processed in one hour, and after shopping and a snack at Starbucks, I still waited an hour. So I had to go back the next day and get snapshots.

I guess they are going through growing pains and will improve. It is a nice store though, gets a lot of my money every month. The deli is very nice.

DOG SHOULD BE IN IDAHO

Dog should be in Idaho. I am sure they would welcome him there with open arms. I guess I never pictured him before as I do now. Before I just thought of him as a colorful character.

But now, I think of him as a supremacist. When he explained himself, I dismissed it. Then I listened to the rant. There was more to it. What is he saying about the young woman's character ? .

I would like for her to go on T V and let us make our own opinion. I really felt bad about it, because I am from Little Rock, and I was denied an education there.

When Gov. Faubus closed the schools, I had to come to Los Angeles to complete my education.Many of my classmates who had no relatives in other states, did not complete their senior year.

If Dog would just look at the jeering people trying to block the entryway to the school, or the policemen with the dogs in Alabama, then he could understand how hurtful his tirade was.

I wouldn't be surprised if the native Hawiian people boycotted his business, now that he has shown his distaste for minorities. That is the bulk of his business. He would feel right at home in Wyoming, Utah , or Idaho.

PILOTS ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

Reports have just been leaked that pilots went to sleep at the wheel. There are many incidents such as this happening, but it is hidden.

Pilots are supposed to have breaks between flights, but who knows whether they sleep or run errands or go to a bar?

I know if I were flying a red eye , I would probably go to sleep, myself. They need to have someone there to keep them awake.When the pilot woke up, the controller was frantic , because he was coming too fast for a landing.

Both airlines on that flight path, Frontier and United ,denied it was them and said they had no knowledge of it and no paperwork.

I am afraid of flying because of my inner ear problems ,and I used to have to fly often because of my job. It wasn't so bad a few years ago, but now they keep you hostage on the runway for hours, and no bathroom facilities, no food or water, it is a joke.

KOBE DOESN'T WANT TO GO !!!!

Kobe seems so sad now that the Lakers are trading him. He was calling their bluff. They are tired of treating him like a ballerina. He is just a spoiled brat. He wants them to get rid of some players and to hire who he wants.

He has to realize that some of the guys don't want to play with him. Michael Jordan irritated a lot of his teammates because he wouldn't share the ball. Kobe is not a team player.

Well he wanted to get rid of Shaq , and thats when it seems like a curse was put on the team. The team was never the same. Myself , I was a fan when they had "SHOWTIME"! They need to send Kobe to a team in Alaska !

IMUS IS BACK !!!

Don Imus is back on radio. I want to see who will agree to come on the show. I'll bet he is just waiting for his so-called friends to call him . He gave them all free rein and they could come on his show anytime.

But I didn't know he was alienated from all the co-anchors at MSNBC. He talked about them all bad. They were glad when he was let go.

What I didn't like was the way he let Bernard just get real nasty. And one of the guys call one of the Williams sisters a monkey. I guess he thought that if the words didn't come out of his mouth, he wouldn't be held responsible.

Charles was the only one I liked . He seemed like a decent guy and didn't get caught up in all that nastiness. Imus did a lot of good things, but the negativeness outweighed the good.

It seemed like the show was only hawking people's books ,and products and fundraising. But I liked the way he raised a lot of money for the veterans. And he brought a lot of attention to the Walter Reed saga.

I also liked the way he would call the politicians out. When he asked a question, he didn't want any double talk.

Dog has had it! And he was set up by his own son. When kids grow up they want to call their own shots.

If they feel for one minute that you are a hipocrite they will turn on you. If Dog had said he used the "N" word one time, then I would have believed him. I can't believe it, he has a picture of the president on the wall, like he is the all american boy next door.

But he said the "N" word many times in his conversation. I know his son might regret that Dog might lose his TV show, but his son is upset. He plays all goody goody to the press, and when he is behind closed doors he is a biggot.

He doesn't want his dad to pick his relationships for him. I hope their relationship will heal, with all the heartache that the family has gone through in the past few years.

What if his son and the woman have kids and deny him any access to them? This is sad, but it happens all the time. When a child goes off to college, you never know what you will get back. Maybe a stranger.

I wonder how this is going to be hashed out with the native Hawaiians who are minorities? Has he tried to keep his son away from the natives?

How can this be. He was always abrupt with the media. At the final game he left before his team presented a video tribute to him.

He said if he was running the franchise, they would have won a world series by now. He says he knows who has the talent. Is that a hint that he wants a managerial job?

He talked about all of the things he had done for the team. I guess he forgot all the negative things he bought to the team. I guess all of the drama is gone and now they can concentrate on the game.

I would always hear Barry say negative things ,like he was going to lay off for a season ,or he was going to retire. And last week the stories of the infidelity in the tabloids.

They always say be careful what you wish for, and he wished to be off the team ,or was he calling their bluff?

JERMAINE JACKSON IS A DEADBEAT DAD !!!

Jermaine says he can't get a job because his market value may go down. I think if a person has 8 kids he should do something.

I do not think any of the Jackson's have a market value but Janet and Michael. Jermaine has to remember he was a child star and that time is gone.

Jermaine has been married three times and his ex-wife has kids by him and she was first married to Randy Jackson and has kids by him.

She said in court docs that she needs abt 13,000 a month to survive. Jermaine pays no child support. She lives with Jermaine's mother who pays for the ex and children's support.

I was a fan years ago, but this turns my stomach. I do not respect this man and will not buy any of his work. But I think the amount of monthly support that the ex is asking for is too much. Jermaine asked the court to give him custody so that she can get a job.

How Can Grand Canyon Protect Tourists Better?

I am so distraut over the death of the 4 year old who fell 400 feet to her death. The area was not protected by railing.

The little girl was on vacation with her parents who were a military family. Her father climbed down to her and applied CPR , but couldn't revive her. This is the 3rd death in the last few months in the Grand Canyon.

Does any other team want Kobe? I think Kobe wants to backtrack and stay with the Lakers. There is no buzz of any other team that wants him.

The front office and Jerry Buss seem fed up with him. They stood by him during his crisis, and now he threatens to leave. They say he has his own dressing room and doesn't want to dress with the other guys.

When microsoft releases new programs, they wait one year to stop service on older programs to the public. They are extending XP until June.

Vista has had a lot of problems. Microsoft is working hard to correct them. The update to XP will come at the beginning of the year, which will be the third.

I do not want to be forced to buy Vista, but if I am denied customer service,I will have no other choice.

Democrats Want To Tax All Internet Purchases

The Democrats want to tax all internet purchases. They want to find revenue to pass the Childrens Health Program. I was against it when I found out they wanted to tax cigarettes 61 cents.

Just look at all of the state taxes the government could make to fund their ferries to nowhere, paint salmons on airplanes, bridges to nowhere, research salmon baby food.

I do not smoke or drink but I think they should cut some of the pork they want for their own projects. They have probably tacked many things on to the Children's Healthcare Bill.

So I believe that's why the President vetoed it. The people that are paying cash for their children's care now will get a free ride. And all of the illegal immigrants will get care. Our economy is already on the verge of collapse.

Bombay Stores Closing Down

Bombay is closing down their U S stores. They sell home accessories, wall decor and furniture. They filed bankruptcy in September. Their Canadian stores will remain open.

The stores will remain open through the holiday season. I really enjoyed shopping in this store at the mall and on line.

U S Missile Bases For Sale On E-Bay

There are some former U S Missile Bases for sale on the internet. In Washington State there is a base for sale on e-bay for $1.5 mil. There are miles of underground tunnels and silos.

The site covers 56 acres.Since the government sold it in the seventies, it has been used as a summer camp.They are being described as "Castles of the 20th century"

I am wondering if these places were ever radioactive, and who would like to live there or have a camp there?

The Government Will Buy Out Land And Homes On Mississippi Beachfront

The government plans to buy 17,000 homes.They will be replaced by levees and barriers.This plan by the "Mississippi Coastal Improvement Program" may cost nearly 40 billion dollars.

They deny that the land will be sold to developers. It is supposed to be for public use only. The purpose of buying the land is supposedly to protect the coast from hurricanes.

But some of the people in the area think this will be a resort area full of beaches and casinos.

Why I Don't Wear Gold Or Diamonds

I don't wear gold or diamonds because men are worked in slave like conditions. Some of them live in dormitories and rarely see their families. 24 tons of diamonds are dug from the earth every year. This is a multibillion-dollar business.

The ads say that diamonds are forever, and a girl's best friend, but the business is built on the lives of Africans in Sierra Leone who are maimed and killed if they don't put out enough work.

While DeBeers, the king pin of the diamond industry, spends 56.5 million dollars a year on advertising, The Africans earn less than 1 dollar a day , panning for the diamonds barefoot in the river beds.

With the 3200 miners missing in South Africa this week, I pray they will be able to rescue them all. There has been an 11 year long war for control of the diamonds in Sierra Leone.

Should Jena 6 Teens Be Pardoned ?

The Congressional Black Caucus is asking Governor to pardon Mychal Bell of The Jena 6. He has been through a lot but this is his wakeup call. I think he should pay for his crimes. If you let a child go with a slap on the wrist, he will do it again. He will not learn from his experience.

If the D.A. had handled this case correctly, many events would not have taken place. I think the Justice Department should investigate his department for the past ten years to check on any irregularities and he should recuse himself from this office.

Why Should Smokers And Drinkers Be Singled Out !!

I am very satisfied that the President vetoed the Childrens Healthcare Bill. The bill would raise the cost of a pack of cigarettes 61 cents. Why does everytime someone draft a bill, they do it at the expense of smokers and drinkers?

I do not smoke or drink, but I don't like to see a single group of persons targeted. A person should not be scapegoated because they have a certain habit. If they have to raise taxes, then raise them, but don't break the backs of average law abiding citizens.

Prince.........Is He That Good Or What ?

I am wondering if Prince is worth the $350.00 admission ticket in Las Vegas at his club. I was thinking of going to see him and stay at the Rio. The VIP ticket covers dinner and champagne. It would be my luck to go to Vegas and he was a no show that night.

The after party is at an adjacent restaurant. And to see Prince and other guest artists he may have, you will have to shell out $50.00 extra dollars. You can get into the bar for the price of 2 drinks, but you can only hear the entertainment, you can't see them.

Brittany Spears Never Had A Childhood !!!

Now you can see the results of having your child in the entertainment business. These children always have people telling them what to do. People are depending on them for their livelyhood. I know there were many times she was tired and was forced to work.

Most of these kids have to get married to escape their managers and parents, who have control. They cannot eat what they want because they cannot gain weight.

So I think she is just learning to live on her own and to try to make some decisions on her own. I feel so sorry for these child stars. Brittany has been working since she was a baby.

Just Because Meat is Red, Doesn't mean It's Fresh

Meat treated with Carbon Monixide can still be red 2 months after the expiration date. The gas is keeping the meat red. I have gone to the market and they have changed the labels with a new expiration date. And I have seen them slice through the ground beef that had a red new layer of meat covering the old meat.

The FDA approved the irradiation of meat. It kills mostly all dangerous bacteria and samonella in the meat. It will not make the meat radioactive. I am just about now ready to go vegetarian.

Little Rock Nine's 50th Anniversary brought back memories

It gave me great pleasure to see my old classmates on T. V. after all these years. They are still going strong. When the schools closed, my friends and I said we were going to get jobs.

Some of them couldn't find jobs. I went to work at the Marion Hotel, Operating the elevator. I worked there over a year, then I was pondering the idea of becoming a WAC and going into nursing.

My family was afraid of homosexuality being rampant, and wouldn't let me go. I didn't even know what that was. A year later, I came to California where I completed my education. But I still felt a strong tie to Dunbar and Horace Mann and attended the reunions.

I am very dissapointed in De la Hoya. The photos showing him in drag this week was unbelievable. What happened to him? He knows he is a celebrity and should keep his handlers around him.

If he was still in Hollenbeck this wouldn't have happened to him. I think he let his guard down and didn't think this could happen to him. And I thought it was bad when Sugar Ray Leonard got his wallet stolen in Las Vegas.

Well at least he isn't boxing now and into promoting. But I know the people in Hollenbeck are shocked that he didn't practice more caution. My cousin used to spar with him in Hollenbeck.

Greenspan says "Nixon and Clinton" were smartest presidents he knew

In his new book," The Age of Turbulance, he stated those facts. I was very surprised to hear that. I might read the book. He had worked for every president except President Carter since appointed to his position.

Greenspan said that during the Clinton administration he was welcomed at the White House and went there every month for a meeting, and his input was welcomed. He said George Bush blamed him for his failed re-election.

I never thought I would read a book written by him, but now I am interested in hearing what he has to say. I hope the reviews are accurate.

It seems like the fellow journalists are afraid to touch Rita Cosby. I think they will be judged on guilt by association. They are tip toeing around the subject of the book she has written about Anna Nicole.

People might come to the conclusion they are not serious journalists. The book has not made number one yet. I for one have had my fill of Anna Nicole. She was the attraction, not Stern or Birkhead.

I could not get any work done, I was so into the newscasts. It is my opinion that Rita thought this would be a blockbuster, but it has been a bomb.

Seniors are now the targets for mortgage companies. The phones are off the hook about reverse mortgages and home equity loans. I am very upset that these telemarketers are on the prowl.

In some states there has to be a lawyer present to oversee the documents. But not the case in all states. The represenative can just send papers in the mail for a signature.

Some of the older people may not have understood there might be a balloon payment years later.

Do we not grow apples here in the U S now? I read the label and was infuriated. Are the farmers being subsidized not to grow apples so the big corporations can import and make huge profits? I am very dissapointed.

I knew something was wrong when I heard of O.J.'s arrest. These guys wanted to capitalize off the publicity of the book that Goldman was selling.

On the tape it sounded as if they were reading off a script. If I am a regular person, and it sounds fake to me, then the experts should not fall for the okey doke.

I don't know if these guys were wearing a wire or not, but they had O.J. if this was the real deal. I would like for them to take a lie detector test to see if they are telling the truth.

I for one hope that the celebrities keep in the background. The people in middle America do not identify with celebrities.

I know that people think famous people should be seen and not heard. But they have a right to voice their opinions.

Oprah and Quincy Jones are friends, but Oprah is endorsing Obama and Quincy is endorsing Hillary.

I for one do not follow or pay any attention to endorsements or polls,so I know other people don't either. There are so many people running, we have not made up our minds yet.

A man dies in China after a three day marathon on the web

A man about 30 years old ,died at a cybercafe at a terminal. The paramedics could not revive him.

The hospital was quoted as saying "the amount of time he spent online might have triggered heart problems."

The Chinese government is cracking down on gaming sites to prevent tragedies such as this.

I am wondering if our government will monitor our young children who spend more time on games than studying.

When Simpson was arrested, I thought it was some sort of publicity stunt that had gone bad.

I thought he had done it to take away the thunder from Fred Goldman whose book has been released this week.

Greenspan "May Not Vote in 2008"

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan was quoted as saying "he may not vote in 2008".What has happened to him? What is his reasoning?

He was the chairman of the Fed for 18 years. He retired in 2006.Greenspan has just published a memoir criticizing President Bush and Congress.

With many politicians now bowing out of the 2008 races, I wonder how am I, the average person supposed to vote? We see politicians saddened about the state of affairs and dissolutions of their own political systems.

WONDER BREAD LEAVING CALIFORNIA

Wonder bread is closing it's stores in California.Interstate Bakeries announced they will be closing in October. Over 1300 jobs will be lost.

The statement was that with the ethnic mix here in California,people are eating less white bread.

Hey, what about the people with allergies? We can't eat those grain breads.We still eat Home Pride Bread!

Now if I want Wonder I will have to go to Las Vegas to get it or have someone visiting there bring me some back.

Well at least they will still operate the bakeries here that produce Twinkies and Dolly Madison cakes.

A Toy Pricing Conspiracy ?

It's mighty convenient that the controversy about the lead paint in toys from China comes at this time of the year.

The price of toys will be up this holiday season. The toy companies are blaming it on the subcontractors.

I bought a blouse at a store and the chemical smell was so bad that after a few washings, I threw it away.

I believe that materials are stored next to chemicals in the factories and on cargo ships.

I am preparing myself for the frenzy of safe toys that people are going to be fighting over in the stores this season.

Mexican Nursing Home For Me ??

There is estimated to be 40,000 to 80,000 American retirees living in Mexico in nursing homes. They are mostly in San Miguel de Allende or in the Chapala area.

Cost is a factor. In -home health services aides are 9 dollars an hour in Mexico compared to 19 dollars an hour in America.

Companions are 2 to 5 dollars per hour compared to 17 dollars per hour in America. The average rates are 550.00 per month for 24 hour nursing care, apt., and meals.

Mexico offers full medical coverage, including all medicines and insulin through their social security plan. It runs hospitals and clinics and Americans can join.

The Casa de Ancianos takes in foreigners as residents to subsidize Mexican patients. I guess more and more of us will have to look into this.

Shaquille O'Neal is filing dor divorce after only five years of marriage. He is requesting his wife Shaunie Nelson give an accounting of all monies, stocks, funds, bonds and securities that she obtained during their five years of marriage.

They signed a cohabitation and a prenuption agreement before their marriage. Does Shaq have a reason to doubt his wife?

Is Organic Really Organic ??

I went shopping this past weekend to get my organic fruits and vegetables This was at a large chain store. I bought some strawberries and some blueberries.

When I bit into a strawberry, it tasted of some sanitation product. I don't know if it was an irrigation or sewage problem, but I will really be afraid to trust the organic label.

A company can say they do not use animal fertilizer on their products, but if they do not offer employees proper sanitation facilities, we will always have this problem.

Should we feel sorry for Senator Craig?

I have been noticing how the Republican will stand behind some of their own and sometimes not. Why didn't they support Senator Craig?

Is it because they saw the opportunity to replace him with someone else? Maybe the senator will now change parties to the Democratic Party.

When Imus was under fire, the only one that came to his rescue was Senator McClain.When a politician was on the Imus show, that was free publicity.They could push a project or hawk a book.

I think Imus gave Bernard and Sid a free rein and they are partly the ones who brought him down.

When did FEMA know about formaldehyde?

FEMA has agreed to refund monies paid to buy trailers.FEMA sold these trailers to the survivors of Katrina. Residents bought the trailers at a discount.About 120,000 were sold.

FEMA officials brushed aside field workers concerns about the formaldhyde.Residents were complaining they were ill from the fumes.After a congressional hearing, sales were halted.

GSA auctioned off used FEMA trailers. They are not covered in the buy back plan. A class action lawsuit has been filed in New orleans by 500 individuals.

Study by The Federal Trade Commission on Marketing to kids

The FTC has issued subpoenas to 44 food and beverage companies to gather information on how they are marketing to children.



The data will be collected for a study.The companies include McDonald's Corp,Proctor and Gamble Co., and Coca Cola Co.



I for one would like to see the results of this study because we are bombarded with ads that are geared directly to children.

Consumer Credit Cards, up to 75 percent interest in Mexico

The number of credit cards in usage in Mexico is 22 million.Walmart's Mexican stores will soon open it's own bank, and will give credit cards to people who earn only $182 dollars a month.

With Banamex, Mexico's largest bank, a card will be issued to persons who can't prove they have any income.

Bloggers Free Speech Being Threatened

The Federal Election Commission is proposing to extend campaign finance rules to the internet, this is including bloggers.

We will have to fight these governmental regulations.

Some time ago, there was a movement to charge for every e-mail that was sent.

This is another form of free speech that is being threatened to be taken away from us.
