MEXICO PROTECTING THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY

Mexico's president Felipe Calderon is planning to put 4.6 million dollars to work to curb logging and to protect Monarch Butterflies. This was a promise he made when he was elected to support the environment , economy, and tourism .

The butterflies migrate from Canada to Mexico every winter. Visitors come from around the world to see them. It is called the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve and will cover 124,000 acres of land. He has vowed to plant 250 million trees this year in his National Anti-Global Warming Plan.
