BLUETONGUE VIRUS HAS KILLED MORE THAN 300 SHEEP IN THE AREAS OF BIG HORN BASIN IN WYOMING

This outbreak of deadly virus has also killed whitetail deer, mule deer and antelopes. Samples have been collected and sent to the lab for testing.

Symptoms of Bluetongue are high fever, swelling of face and tongue, drooling, and discoloration of face and lips. Cause of death is pnuemonia . The disease is caused by small transmitted biting midges.

300 of 900 affected sheep have died of infection. Some farms have been quarantined
