AIDS PATIENTS SHOULD START TREATMENT EARLIER

People infected with the virus that causes AIDS should start treatment earlier than currently recommended, the World Health Organization says.

The UN agency issued new guidance yesterday advising doctors to start giving HIV positive patients AIDS drugs a year or two earlier than usual.

The advice could double the number of people worldwide who qualify for treatment, adding an extra three to five million patients to the five million already awaiting AIDS drugs.

SMOKING KILLS FIVE MILLION PEOPLE A YEAR

Tobacco use kills at least five million people every year, a figure that could rise if countries don't take stronger measures to combat smoking, the World Health Organisation said on Wednesday.

In a new report on tobacco use and control, the UN agency said nearly 95 per cent of the global population is unprotected by laws banning smoking. WHO said secondhand smoking kills about 600,000 people every year.

Billions of mobile phone users around the world are at risk of having their calls intercepted and recorded after hackers broke the encryption used to protect 80 per cent of the world's mobiles.

People regularly trading in confidential information, such as Government officials and executives, would be the most likely eavesdropping targets

A German computer engineer, Karsten Nohl, told a hacker conference in Berlin that he and his team decoded the Global System for Mobile Communication encryption algorithm to draw attention to gaping security holes in the technology and drive mobile operators to patch them.

SIX PASSENGERS FAINTED ON US FLIGHT TO LONDON

The British Airways Boeing 777 aircraft carried 216 passengers and 14 crew members. Upon landing at Heathrow, emergency crews checked the plane for hazardous materials. Nothing was found suspicious by the police. No cause for the fainting has been determined.

ZULU'S REINTRODUCING CIRCUMCISION TO COMBAT AIDS

The King of South Africa's Zulu's, Goodwill Zwelithini, said on Saturday at a traditional festival his intention to revive the practice. Studies have shown that circumcision can cut chances of the HIV virus in half.

Zulus practiced the ritual circumcision until the 19Th century when King Shaka stopped it. Shaka felt the procedure kept his men away for months at a time. The head of Kwa Zula -Natal's regional government Zweli Mkhize, said it will assist in the fight against AIDS but will not prevent the spread of sexual transmitted diseases.

TWO DEATHS IN FRANCE FROM MUTATED H1N1

The World Health Organization is investigating reports of mutations in the swine flu for virus, after 6 countries recorded cases in which the virus was transforming. Experts in France have analyzed 1200 strains and this was the first drug resistant case.

The mutation could increase the ability of the virus to affect the respiratory tracts and lung tissue, a statement from the French government's Health Surveillance Institute said.

THINGS THESE SUPERSTARS HAD IN COMMON

Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson and now Tiger Woods. The things they had in common was a lack of good old common sense. I guess these superstars think they can handle every aspect of their career. They must think they can do the jobs of PR people, agents, managers, and handlers. They believe in their own press. The larger they become they listen less to these professionals.

I guess Michael thought he was bigger than life and could not be brought down with his dealings with children and he ignored pleadings form his handlers.

Kobe thought he would never be found out because he was in an out of the way place and no one would ever know.

Tiger thought these women would be discreet and never utter a word. All Tiger and Kobe had to do was place a call to one of his seasoned handlers, or people in the business and a call would have been placed to a madam and a plane load of lovely women would have been at their beck and call.

These women working at these clubs are mostly low income wage earners and the men thought they could get by free. They should have known better. These women are out for their fifteen minutes of fame. There are women out there who would never tell, some are in this for a business and not for fame.

I just feel Tiger made poor judgements and his friends should have told him the consequences of taking these high risk moves. Now because of his poor judgements, his wife and kids will suffer for years to come. But he will not have a squeaky clean image anymore. Now he has street cred. Tiger will bounce back. He just must now face the many people who had so much confidence in him.

JOE JACKSON SEEKS A FAMILY ALLOWANCE FROM MICHAEL JACKSON'S ESTATE

Joe Jackson does not stand to inherit any of his son's assets and cannot challenge the appointment of the executors chosen by the singer to handle his will, according to the judge.

Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff said Joe Jackson was not named in the will but he could pursue a motion to receive a family allowance because he claimed Michael supported him.

His expenses exceed $15,000 a month, according to court documents. The 2002 will of Michael Jackson omitted any mention of his father. The court documents said Joe Jackson receives $1,700 monthly from Social Security, and he relied on his son for support for many years.

The documents stated, "He does not have a regular source of income, and he was dependent upon the money provided by his son, Michael Jackson, through his wife, Katherine Jackson, for his support.

The judge has scheduled a hearing for December 10 on Joe Jackson's request for the family allowance. Katherine Jackson's new probate attorney Adam Streisand suggested that she would support that request.

I think that's what the masses thought when they voted for Barak Obama. But instead, times got worse. There were no chickens to eat and cars being repossessed.

I guess the people thought that an office would open on the street corners in every state where they could apply for jobs. Instead, the president gave the money to the states to do what they wanted.

The governor's remodeled their mansions, gave out jobs to selected people, put out fictitious figures about people hired, no one gained. I think 2010 will be disappointing to the Democrats. They inherited this mess but are going about the wrong way to fix it.

The Democrats are just throwing things up in the air to see what sticks. This slogan about a chicken in every pot was a 1928 presidential slogan by Herbert Hoover. Many people thought that Barak Obama was their last hope and their dreams still went down the drain.

There are so many people hurting right now. Some of them were million dollar car salesmen and now they can't make a living and have to rely on food stamps and are at risk of losing their home. They can't afford insurance for their kids and have to go to the discount store to buy eyeglasses.

WILL LOU DOBBS BE THE NEXT MAVERICK ON THE FOX NETWORK ?

It seems like Lou Dobbs will be the next maverick on the Fox News Network. There he will not be held back from expressing his views. He is "Going Rogue" like Sarah Palin. Glenn Beck is happier since he is not with all those women on Headline News.

Lou Dobbs met with Roger Ailes, the chairman of the Fox News Channel in September. I wonder if it was because of his dissatisfaction with HLN ? Well, time will only tell. Dobbs said he is considering a number of options and directions, since abruptly leaving CNN.

TIGER IS FINALLY GOING TO GROW UP

Tiger now has to face problems himself. His PR people and agents can't smooth over these problems. I have heard how he throws his club , pounds them into the ground,and uses profanity at the tournments. I think it is disgusting because many people bring their kids to watch him play.

Many people are surprised at this happening, but look at his friend who was arrested for a DUI and the horrible slurs he made about women. I thought he would be penalized from his TV show, but he went on to work as usual. I am glad this came about because I don't think that individual should run and be elected to a political office.

Michael Laws - who stirred up controversy by calling the late Tongan King a "bloated brown slug'' - has again hit the headlines.

"That there is a group within our society who give their children no hope nor opportunity from the moment that they are born," the regional mayor wrote on the New Zealand radio website where he broadcasts as a talkback DJ.

"That these ‘parents’ are known to authorities ... and yet the authorities can only intervene after children have been harmed."

Mr Laws goes on to write: "it would be far better for this appalling underclass to be offered financial inducements not to have children, given the toxic environment that they would provide for any child in their care."

Mr Laws said a report in New Zealand's Dominion-Post newspaper yesterday had incorrectly attributed the view to him that all those who got welfare should be sterilized.

Mr Laws wrote on the website "that most welfare beneficiaries are good parents" but it was the problem ones who should be offered money not to breed.

Yesterday's Dominion-Post newspaper quotes him as saying: "If we gave $10,000 to certain people and said 'we'll voluntarily sterilize you' then all of society would be better off,'' he told the .

"There'd be less dead children and less social problems.''

He was commenting on the latest death of a toddler, two-year-old Karl Perigo-Check, who was the son of a convicted murderer and gang member.

New Zealand is placed third among OECD nations for child deaths due to maltreatment, four spots ahead of Australia, according to UNICEF.

It is ranked fifth for both child beatings and sexual abuse, again several places ahead of its antipodean neighbour.

Mr Laws argued that "liberal methods'' of beating the problem had failed.

THE UN ANNUAL REPORT : DEATH TOLL OF AIDS VICTIMS PASSES 25 MILLION

AIDS has now killed 25 million people around the world but the number of new infections is slowing sharply,according to the report.

Almost 60 million people have been infected by the HIV virus since it was first recorded but prevention programs are having a significant impact.

About two million people died of the disease in 2008, bringing the overall toll to about 25 million since the virus was first detected three decades ago. In 2008, about 2.7 million were newly infected.

Michel Sidibe, UNAIDS executive director, said the number of new HIV infections has been reduced by 17 per cent over the past eight years, with some of the most notable progress reported in Africa.

HIV incidence has fallen by 25 per cent since 2001 in East Africa, while the figure for sub-Saharan Africa as a whole was about 15 per cent - equating to around 400,000 fewer infections in 2008, the report says.

"However, the findings also show that prevention programming is often off the mark and that if we do a better job of getting resources and programs to where they will make most impact, quicker progress can be made and more lives saved."

The new report showed that more people than ever, about 33.4 million, are now living with the virus as people live longer due to the beneficial effects of antiretroviral therapy

"International and national investment in HIV treatment scale-up has yielded concrete and measurable results. We cannot let this momentum wane," said Margaret Chan, head of the UN's World Health Organisation.

"This tells us that we must work for a unified health approach bringing maternal and child health and HIV programs as well as tuberculosis programs together to work to achieve their common goal."

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said that the administration recently completed a review and decided not to change the Bush-administration era policy.

More than 150 countries have agreed to the Mine Ban Treaty's provisions to end the production, use, stockpiling and trade in mines. Besides the United States, holdouts include: China, India, Pakistan, Myanmar and Russia.

Kelly said that the United States would send an observer group of mine experts to a review conference on the treaty in Cartegena, Colombia next week.

HOSPITAL ISSUEING PAPER GOWNS AND SOCKS TO PATIENTS

A friend was admitted to surgery at a large hospital in California and was shocked at being issued a paper gown and some socks upon being admitted. She had asked for the skid proof vinyl and terrycloth slippers and they gave her the socks.

When she got to the hospital bed it was so flimsy it was like a dolly on wheels. And she said when she got to the operating room, she was transferred to an operating table that looked like a lawn chair. she sat up and she almost flipped over. They had her slide back as far as she could.

I sure would like to see the charges for the gowns and the socks and see if the charges are the same as they before when they had cloth gowns and slippers ! What's next, will they ask you to bring in your own nighties and will they have you go to the OR naked under a sheet ?

ARE THE TEA PARTY GOERS MISGUIDED ?

It seems that they are being taken for a ride by those who will benefit from the failure of health care reform. Since most of the people have not been affected by the health care system, they don't have a clue. You only have to look at the scandal at Walter Reed Hospital and the deplorable conditions there. Imus got behind the movement to improve care for vets.

One would only have to view the Francis Ford Coppola's movie, "The Rainmaker" based on the book by John Grisham. The movie starred Matt Damon and Danny Devito.People are being told to vote against anything that Obama is for.

I think it is going to backfire on them. Things they are being told that will happen in the future, are happening now. I think we need reform but it shouldn't be shoved down our throats. And the lawmakers are not even reading the bill. And I think there are a lot of blank pages in the bill that will be filled in later.

TUNISIA HAS SUSPENDED THE HAJJ BECAUSE OF THE SWINE FLU

WAS THE CELL PHONE INCIDENT A LITMUS TEST ?

I could not believe it when Maria Scharzenegger announced she would donate her cell phone to a charity. This was after she was observed talking on a cell phone while driving several times. It has always been known that there are two types of laws, one for the rich and another for the rest of us.

I would have expected her cousin to say that she would donate her phone to charity. But not Maria. She is an accomplished journalist. What I would have liked to see was her going down to the Department of Motor Vehicles and paying a fine, which is what the rest of us would have had to do. Then I would have had my faith restored in her,since I have followed her family history over the years.

This is why the people's trust in famous people have waned in recent years. We do not rev er them as we once used to. I think her coming out and saying she was donating her cell phone to charity was a red herring.

PENTAGON HAS BEST RECRUITING YEAR SINCE 1973

The Pentagon's personnel chief said Tuesday the military has completed its best recruiting year since 1973, meeting all its goals and bringing in a better educated group of young people.

The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps met goals for active duty and reserve recruiting during the budget year ended Sept. 30 — the first time that has happened since the all-volunteer force was established, said Defense Department head of personnel Bill Carr.

Carr told a Pentagon press conference that it's partly because of department spending on finding recruits, even as fewer civilian jobs were available due to the nation's economic problems. He also cited increases in military pay.

FREDERIC MITTERRAND: THE SLAVE MARKET EXITES ME ENORMOUSLY

CHINA TO END HEPATITIS B TESTS

According to Xinhua, the state news agency in Beijing, Chinese health officials will abolish mandatory testing for hepatitis B during physical exams given to college students, factory workers, and government employees.

The new rules, mean that people found to be carrying the hepatitis B virus will not be automatically barred from jobs and classrooms. It is estimated that 120 million people in China are thought to be infected. It is not uncommon in China for hepatitis B carriers to be barred from medical school, teaching positions or jobs in the food production industry.

John Gosselin has demanded that TLC stop production of the show "John and Kate Plus 8"He no longer wants his family filmed since he heard he was being fired from the show. Beginning in November, the show would be called "Kate Plus 8".

He would have to get a job and the money would dry up and Kate would still be making money. Now he has put the divorce on hold.Does he think Kate will take him back so he can still get money ? His new life style will cease to be.

WHY CHICAGO SHOULD NOT GET THE OLYMPICS

How can Chicago protect tourists from all over the world, when they can't even protect innocent children going to and from school? It seems like these kids are being treated like collateral damage. Chicago has spent 100 million dollars for the bid on the Olympics.

I think it is in poor taste for President Obama and the First Lady to be cheerleaders for Chicago, when the Mayor isn't calling for federal help. These thugs should be tried as adults and tried under the Ricoh Act.Maybe federal prison time will send a message.

I shudder in horror as the elected officials pose for photo ops and smile as if everything is well in the city of Chicago. There needs to be rewards for film that was taken by cellphones to identify the perpetrators in these crimes.Kids are afraid to go to school for being attacked by mobs of their classmates.

A police official said there has been no tips or call from the public as to who these criminals were. I thought Chicago had a camera on every street corner ?

We are sure hearing a lot from the Royal Family lately. Prince Phillip commented that a bottle of water costs more than a bottle of milk.

This is hypocrisy for him to ask this of the people. Has he no shame ? I just can't imagine him saying a thing. He is doing his part of high carbon emissions and global warming by asking this of his subjects. He should be leading by example. But I guess it is do as I say, not as I do !

WHY DID JAY LENO LEAVE LATE NIGHT ?

I think Leno wanted to get out while he was ahead. He wanted to something that had to do with comedy. Every night he had to talk to empty headed bauble heads that were hawking their new movie or show. They weren't funny or interesting.

The country has been leaning toward nastiness and mean rabid people. In his new show he is showcasing the need for knowledge. There are people who don't know things that a 5Th grader should know. It makes them look so stupid.

I don't think there is anyone who can replace Leno. And certainly when Letterman leaves, it will be all over.

WHY WAS CENSUS WORKER HANGED FROM A TREE ?

MANCHESTER, Ky. – When Bill Sparkman told retired trooper Gilbert Acciardo that he was going door-to-door collecting census data in rural Kentucky, the former police officer drew on years of experience for a warning: "Be careful."

The 51-year-old Sparkman was found this month hanged from a tree near a cemetery with the word "fed" scrawled on his chest, a law enforcement official said Wednesday, and the FBI is investigating whether he was a victim of anti-government sentiment.

He was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of Daniel Boone National Forest.

State police said Thursday that the cause of death was asphyxiation. State police said in a statement that he was found with a rope around his neck that was tied to a tree, but that he was "in contact with the ground." .

People associate any person working for the government as an enemy. Service personnel working for utility companies,cable companies, or any service company are required to write a report as to what they have seen. I think it is an invasion of privacy. I feel our rights are being violated.

PATIENTS FALLING FROM HOSPITAL BEDS

My daughter-in-law called to tell me that her mom's friend had fallen out of a hospital bed and went into a coma and died. She was only there for a minor surgery. This was a surprising event. No one had expected for this to happen.

Patient falls are the most common injuries reported in hospitals. Many hospitals are making simple changes. For example, patients aren't given diuretics before bedtime, as a full bladder might tempt patients to make a nighttime bathroom trip by themselves — a classic scenario for a fall.

Some hospitals avoid drugs that could impair a patent's balance. They are also using beds that can be lowered to the floor so that if patients fall out, they won't fall far.

All this patient protection isn't just happening out of benevolence. In some states, hospitals now have to publicly report their fall rates. There is also a financial incentive: Medicare will no longer pay for costs related to certain hospital falls. Those falls can add more than $4,000 in excess charges per hospitalization.

75 Percent of Oklahoma High School Students Can’t Name the First President of the U.S.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Only one in four Oklahoma public high school students can name the first President of the United States, according to a survey released today.

The survey was commissioned by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs in observance of Constitution Day on Thursday.

Brandon Dutcher is with the conservative think tank and said the group wanted to find out how much civic knowledge Oklahoma high school students know.

The Oklahoma City-based think tank enlisted national research firm, Strategic Vision, to access students’ basic civic knowledge.

“They’re questions taken from the actual exam that you have to take to become a U.S. citizen,” Dutcher said.

A thousand students were given 10 questions drawn from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services item bank. Candidates for U.S. citizenship must answer six questions correctly in order to become citizens.

JAPAN IS PUSHING FOR AN ASIAN UNION

Japan's new Prime Minister, Yukio Hatoyama, in his first meeting with China's President, has proposed the formation of an East Asian community.

On the eve of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Mr Hatoyama proposed to Hu Jintao the formation of a grouping like the European Union. He said the vision was designed to unify the region, possibly under a single currency.

''I told [Mr Hu] I would like to form an East Asian community by overcoming differences'' including a dispute over exploitation rights for gas fields lying near islands the two countries claim in East China Sea, Mr Hatoyama told reporters.





"I hope and am convinced China-Japan ties will develop more actively and enter a new phase," Mr Hu said, congratulating the Japanese leader on his election victory last month.

Mr Hatoyama's Democratic Party of Japan ended six decades of Liberal Democratic Party power, years that were often marked by frosty relations with China over Japan's war record.

Mr Hu agreed the two countries should work towards friendship and co-operation, and that officials should begin negotiations on an agreement. Mr Hu invited Mr Hatoyama to a summit including South Korea by December.

Mr Hatoyama urged Mr Hu to work on promoting public support for an accord with Japan. The Chinese President welcomed Mr Hatoyama's stance on Japan's aggression during World War II. Mr Hatoyama said his administration would honour a 1995 statement in which Japan apologized for past aggression.

South Korea To Begin Fingerprinting All Foreigners.

S Korea 'to fingerprint all foreigners

South Korea will demand fingerprints from all adult foreign visitors by 2012 to tighten immigration controls and prevent criminals entering the country, officials said on Tuesday.

The justice ministry said a bill to be submitted to parliament next month requires foreigners aged over 17 to provide prints of their index fingers and an identity photograph upon entry.

Those intending to stay more than three months must provide full fingerprints in addition to the photo.

South Korea previously took fingerprints of foreigners intending to stay for more than a year. The requirement was abolished in 2004.

"A database of physical information on foreigners is urgently needed to stop illegal immigrants, criminals and terrorists from entering the country," said Lee Bok-Nam, an immigration official at the justice ministry.

Crimes by foreigners rose nearly fivefold over the past eight years from 4,328 in 2001 to 20,624 last year, JoongAng Ilbo newspaper reported Tuesday, quoting national police data.

MENINGITIS OUTBREAK IN KERN COUNTY CALIFORNIA

There is a total number of 23 cases in the county since December. The school district sent a warning letter home with students about the disease.

Kevin Silberberg, Standard School District"s Superintendent said, " There is no way to know 100 percent that it didn't happen at school but the letter from the Health Department given to the parents said it was every indication that it didn't happen at school ".

Meningococcal disease is a bacterial infection that can cause meningitis. The disease can be spread by close contact like sharing lipsticks, and food, and can result in brain damage, hearing loss and even death. Many people can carry the infection and never get sick.

PRESIDENT OBAMA : PUT THE HEALTH PLAN ONLINE !!!

I think the president should put the health plan online for everyone in the U S that wants to know if this plan follows the constitution. People out there are showing their ignorance by not knowing that social security and medicare are some form of socialized medicine.

One lady looked so foolish when she was questioned by the Hardball show about these topics and she didn't know. She didn't think that medi cal and social security should be abolished. She said her parents were nearing the age when they would be eligible for these programs.

If the president wants transparancy on the health plan, everyone should have a copy of it available to them so they do not have to depend on their represenative, who is probably looking at the same sound bites for cable shows.

WILL THE G20 KICK THE G8 TO THE CURB ?

The group of eight industrialized powers are now ineffectual in the worldwide financial crises, according to researchers and international affairs experts.

The G8 consiste of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan ,Russia and the United States. But the G8 depends on the G20 which includes Argentina, Brazil, China, India and South Africa.

Richard Portes, a researcher at the London School of Economics said "no substantive results have come out of the G8 for years. Portes said the G8 has become irrelevant. Barry Echengreen at UC Berkely said reform of the IMF could not be done without China, the largest reserve holder.

Kumor of the Indian Research Council said there should be a G4 , Japan, China, The United States, and the European Union.

WHY THE RIGHT DOESN'T WANT SOTOMAYOR TO BE A JUSTICE

The right didn't want Sotomayor confirmed because she is going to cause a lot of work. She is not going to sit like a knot on a log for thirty or forty years and just say "I agree with Justice ---.

She has written thousands of papers and will likely write thousands more. It is not likely that she will pass on anything that crosses her desk without interpreting it according to law.

Now she has someone to spar with. Justice Alito. I was disappointed with Justice Alito when he made a ruling on the William Osborne case vs Alaska.




The court ruled that prisoners have no constitutional right to DNA testing that might prove their innocence. The case before the court concerned Alaska which has no DNA testing laws.

Justice John Paul Stevens said the constitution's due process clause required Mr. William G. Osborne to have access to DNA evidence in his case. He was convicted in 1994 of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a prostitute in Anchorage.

Only 4 states- Alabama, Alaska, Massachusetts and Oklahoma do not have the DNA testing law. Prosecutors often fight hard to deny prisoners access to DNA evidence. No prisoner has ever obtained DNA evidence for testing in Alaska.

Justice Alito, Kennedy and Thomas agreed with the appeals court that the testing be denied. Alito said "prisoners would be given a right to rummage through the state's genetic-evidence locker", and DNA "often fails to provide absolute proof of anything" .

The legal community is eagerly awaiting for the sparks to fly between those two. The innocence Project is working with Mr. Osborne to try to obtain his DNA testing.

A CHINESE TOWN IS QUARANTINED AFTER A DEADLY PLAGUE OUTBREAK

The town is in a Tibetan area in north-west China. It was sealed off after two of its residents died from pneumonic plague, according to reports from the local government and state media.

Ziketan town in Qinghai province was put under quarantine when lab tests showed it had been struck by the highly virulent disease, as reported by the Qinghai health bureau.

A 32-year-old herdsman had died from the plaque, while 11 others had been diagnosed with it. Ziketan, which is located in the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, had enough supplies to get by on its own for the time being, the health bureau stated, giving no indication of when the quarantine would be lifted.

The health bureau urged people who had visited Ziketan on or after July 16Th to seek immediate help if they developed coughing or fever. Pneumonic plague spreads through the air, making it easier to contract than bubonic plague, which requires that a person is bitten by an infected flea.

It is also more lethal, with a fatality rate of up to 100 percent if left untreated, compared with 60 per cent for bubonic plaque.

GATES WANT TO PROFIT FROM THIS ARREST

I was listening to the Gayle King show with the interview of Henry Gates. I couldn't believe my ears. He said he wanted HBO or PBS to offer him a deal to do a documentary on racial profiling. I said "o my God, I can't believe this.

Now it seems to me that he had dollar signs in his eyes when this happened. He knew he could capitalize on this situation. That's why he ratcheted it up a bit. He has really lost some creditability. I have been reading a lot of blogs. Some of them were from Harvard.

Now he is making the rounds of the circuit and will get many speaking engagements. It seems that now I classify him along with Jackson and Sharpton. I am really disappointed. I really looked up to him.

BOSTON COP SUSPENDED FOR A RACIST E-MAIL RE: HENRY GATES

The Boston Police Department said the e-mail was to renew tensions over the Gates incident. Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis placed Officer Justin Barrett, 36, on leave pending a termination hearing. The commissioner removed the officer of his gun and badge upon being made aware of the correspondence.

The e-mail describes Gates as a " banana-eating jungle monkey", according to the news site, MyFoxBoston.com.The city's mayor, Tom Menino, referred to Barrett as a "cancer in the department", and called for him to be fired .

WERE THERE ANY IPHONES AT THE GATES SAGA ?

There should have been some iphone's and footage of the Gates/Cambridge incident. Many people would like to see the footage before it ends up in court to make an opinion.

If the disturbance happened outside the home, there could be some footage. I just can't believe that professor Gates brought himself to such a level. To make it so personal and to talk about some one's mother.

People said that their opinion of professor Gates had really lessened. There was a time when there was a special on public television and they couldn't wait to get home to see a Gates documentary.

This is not an isolated incident. This happens everyday in America. The officer might not have known who Gates was. It didn't matter who he was .I have asked people did they know who he was and they said no. I probably would not have known if I were not a genealogist. And I am a public radio and NPR fan.

But now I don't think I can ever look at one of Professor Gates documentaries ever again. I see him in a new light now. He took this event to a low level," playing the dozens ". Those are fighting words when you disrespect some one's mother.

Once I went to Vancouver and I was the only one detained from the plane. They questioned me and asked me why I was there and where I was going to stay. I told them at the Abbotsford Hotel and they said there was no such hotel. I gave them the phone number and they called and verified I was staying there.

That's when they let me go. I filed a complaint when I got back home and they called me at work and said that I shouldn't be upset. But my son and I were the only black ones on the plane. I just wondered how they found out where I worked and called me. I just said I would never go back there again.

WHY MICHAEL JACKSON CHOSE DIANA ROSS TO BE HIS CHILDREN'S GUARDIAN

Maybe it is because Diana chose to stress an education for her children. All kids should have a " plan B ". Her children graduated from Brown University and Georgetown University. Her children seem well-rounded.

PRESIDENT OBAMA COMMITS A BIDEN GAFFE

President Obama told a reporter a few weeks ago that he thinks before he speaks. But he made a Biden gaffe when he said the Cambridge Police acted stupidly when they arrested his friend Gates. When he doesn't have a teleprompter present, he rattles on and on and then he trips himself up.

This remark has given people fodder for months to come. Because he has spoken up for his friend, the Health Care Plan has been put on the back burner. It seems that Gates wanted heads to roll, and I hate it when people ask "do you know who I am"? Or, "you don't know who you are messing with". People don't care who you are when they are doing their job.

I guess Gates thought he was going to get the officer demoted or fired, but it backfired on him. It seems he is going to milk it for all it is worth.

President Obama didn't say a word when a black police officer was first on the scene in New York a few weeks ago and the white officers shot and killed him. This has happened to several black officers in New York City. They thought the black officers were criminals. Now that is what I think is racial profiling.

REBBIE JACKSON IS A GOOD CHOICE FOR MICHAEL JACKSON'S KIDS AT THIS TIME

Rebbie was the logical choice to get Michael Jackson's children until their appointed guardian or attorney makes his decision and approved by the court. I think it is a circus in that house.

Janet is also a good choice, but Michael knew that she had her career to pursue. Marlon is the only brother that seems to have himself together. Jermaine is a chip off the old block. He seems the most like Joe. He always has some business deal or plan or scheme to make money.

Maybe if Michael had allowed Jermaine around more this wouldn't have happened to him. If Katherine tries to make herself the administrator of Michael's will, I think she will only hurt herself. Every bit of language that comes from that family will be held against them by the court.

Michael was not incompetent if he was still supporting his mother and looking out for her well being. It seems that he was not into supporting his siblings anymore. He paid for his success by his own blood sweat and tears.

The city council of Los Angeles wants a criminal investigation into charges to the city regarding charges such as 48,826 dollars for sandwiches for police officers and related personnel at the Michael Jackson memorial. Questions are being asked about the vendors who bidded for the job and why a sandwich shop 80 miles from Los Angeles in Wrightwood was selected.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS SUSPENDED MEDICAID FOR ALASKANS

From 2006 to 2009, the state reported 27 Alaskans died waiting for assessments, and 227 died while waiting to be reassessed. This is according to a review in March by the Department of Health and Social Services.It is estimated about 1,000 people will be affected.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S MEMORIAL WAS UNFORGETTABLE !!!

I was so relieved to see it done so tasteful. I was sitting there on pins and needles thinking that AEG would just make a mockery out of it. They said that it would be a star studded event. And I know that many people wanted to sing but it would have lasted for many hours if they had let them perform.

The best part of the service was the Andre Crouch choir. I just wanted to hear more of them. But I guess they didn't want to make it too preachy.The service was done with class. There were many people that had never seen a memorial like that . I would like to buy a copy of it without all of the lags and commercials that was in it.

The inspirational dancers were a hit also.This will go down in history. My sister and her nine year old son were bawling. Also her eight year old grand daughter. My nephew will look at his videos 5 or 6 times at a sitting, so he knows all the words. I don't know who organized the memorial, but it was classy and not too glitzy and was done with taste.

What is a memorial service for Michael Jackson without Diana Ross ? She should have been there to sing "Reach out and touch somebody's hand".

Was it because she was set to take custody of Michael's children upon Katherine's demise? Was it because of jealousy and rivalry ?

She might not have been in the family's inner circle, but arrangements should have been made to seat her at the other end of the aisle.

Also what about Liza Minnelli and Elizabeth Taylor ? They are privy to all the info that Michael has shared with them for these 40 years.

I think the family made a mistake to shun them. They might miss the opportunity to get the children because they might need one of these women to come to court and testify in their behalf.

Is it because they have sold the exclusive rights to some magazine or the highest bidder? It seems that people are milking this tragedy for every dime they can get. It is a shame. The kids are going to be exploited further than they have to.

I think so. I think Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, was offered a deal she couldn't turn down. Michael Steele didn't come through for the conservatives. I think Sarah was told she was the only one in America who could restore the GOP to their former greatness.

The millions she was probably promised was more than she could ever earn as a politician. She will probably have a top spot in the RNC or some other organization.She might be a lobbyist.

ARE HMO'S ON THE WAY OUT ?

I think this is the case. They are running scared. Many people are out of work now. When I visited an HMO lately. They had a flyer that asked their members to come and make arrangements to pay their bill. They are losing their patients.

Many people were paying 500 to 600 a month for their health care. So I think that if they don't want to go with the government health plan, they will get a concierge doctor. The fee is around 1500 a year and you get a complete executive exam. And from then on, you pay as you go.

There was some grumbling among members of the HMO that you could not have any pre-existing problems, or they might drop you for any reason. A young woman in Glendale needed a transplant and her HMO denied her, and she died. Another man in San Bernardino needed a certain surgery and they denied him and he died. They later settled with his family.

Maybe that's why the event was planned for the Washington Post and staff members from the Obama Administration and some members of congress. I think the lobbyists were going to have access to these officials so they could help write the government health plan. So big business was still going to have a hand with all things with the Obama administration.

When the word got out the event was cancelled. So this is transparency !!

I think it is despicable for persons to profit off Michael Jackson's death. The promoters wanted to charge 25 dollars for tickets. Are they also going to sell beer and popcorn, music,t-shirts, caps, posters also?

This is to make a mockery of his death. I'll bet Michael would be distressed to know how little they are caring about his legacy and his grieving fans. These muckrakers are disgraceful. If the siblings and Katherine had any respect for Michael, they should call this off and have the event in another venue.

This memorial is being treated like a circus. Are they going to have stage props and an opening ceremony like the olympics ? I don't think it is possible with Californians. Every time I turn on TV and he is there, I click the clicker. His 2003 docmentary " Living with Michael Jackson", will be repeated July 16, 2009. The film has been cut down to 60 minutes from 90 minutes.

They are trying to clean it up by not showing the face of the 12 year old boy holding Michael Jackson's hand during the interview. Bashir lived with Michael Jackson for six months and Michael trusted him.

Michael felt betrayed by Bashir because the film showed him in a bad light.

IS DOCTOR CONRAD MURRAY TO BE A PATSY ??

Being a conspiracy theorist, I am wondering if he is taking the fall for Michael Jackson's death. How could he take a job with a high profile client and not know what to do?

He could have had access to Michael Jackson's personal phone numbers . If it had been me I would have called attorney's Mark Geragos and Brian Oxman in Los Angeles. They would have had a team of concierge doctors there in five minutes or had a helicopter there.

A friend of mine lost her job last year. She has been looking for a job but there aren't any jobs and age is a factor. She doesn't have health care nor dental. Her tooth has been bothering her for awhile and she had no relief.

She went to several practices and they turned her away because she had no cash. She receives social security. She cannot get medicare until she is 65 years old. The university or county hospital that will pull her tooth, stated they only pull teeth.

They will not do cleanings, root canals or crowns. It was a rude awakening for this lady. She was hoping to get a job and medical and dental coverage. This is a preview of the coverage of the government health plan. There will be no frills.

THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION REPORTS 77,000 SWINE FLU CASES

332 people have died from swine flu. The WHO states that 6,308 new A(H1N1) cases were reported including 21 deaths since last Monday.

The United Kingdom has the largest increase with 2,288 new infections including two deaths bringing a total of 6,538 infections including three deaths.

Chili has also added 1,025 cases including 5 deaths. It's total number of infections are 6,211 including 12 deaths.

Some affected countries no longer keep track of all cases and others do not report for the 3 time weekly bulletins.

I think Diana Ross is a very good choice as guardian for Michael Jackson's children. Michael had traveled all over the world and watched many parents and how they raised their children. Diana seemed to keep her children out of the spotlight and tried to get them a good education. So Michael must have seen her as a nurturing and loving mother and she must have reminded him of his mother, Katherine. It seems that Diana kept her children grounded.

I think Janet should be the logical choice to get control of Michael's estate because she and Michael were the successful ones in the family. They were close and Janet is a businesswoman as well as an entertainer.

Questions are being asked about why Katherine Jackson is being thrust out front as the person filing the motions in the court. I don't think there is anyone else that will pass the squeaky test. It is unknown whether they could pass the fitness test given by the Department of Health Services.

$ 11 MILLION DOLLARS IN STIMULUS MONEY TO REMODEL TEXAS GOVERNOR'S MANSION

The Texas budget legislators have set aside the monies for the remodel, even though they have fought against extending unemployment benefits. Governor Rick Perry doesn't want the Federal Government to attach strings to the $555 million in stimulus dollars for unemployment insurance. He said "He didn't want the government to tell the people in Texas how to run their business".

Other projects favored by Perry, $40 million to help film projects, 20 million for the Enterprise Fund meant to spur economic development and $24 million for the Emerging Technology Fund. The Governor hasn't blocked the bulk of the stimulus dollars from coming to Texas, but does not want the unemployment part.

He wants to use $11 billion for pet projects and to balance the proposed two-year budget.

ARE SWINE FLU DEATHS UNDERCOUNTED ?

My friend's daughter was a young school teacher in Los Angeles and she died last week. She told her mother she wasn't feeling well so her mom took her to the hospital. She went in to see the doctor and they were giving her some breathing treatments.

Her mother was in the waiting room when the doctor came out and told her that her daughter was dead. The mother didn't know why her daughter was dead. She was working everyday and she walked into the hospital on her own and didn't show any symptoms or anything.

I asked the mother whether her daughter had any students going back and forth across the border and she didn't know. The health department doesn't usually let the public know if there is an epidemic unless it gets out of control. They were reluctant to give a level 6 alarm, but the World Health Organization did announce a pandemic.

WA Tennis star Brydan Klein has been fined the maximum amount by the ATP for racially abusing a South African opponent during a tournament in the UK. He called Roven Klassen "a f***ing kaffir" during the match. Despite a public apology he has been fined $14,00 dollars.And after a full investigation, more penalties could arise.

Klein made a statement saying he deeply regretted his actions. Klassen's coach Stephen de Kock accused Klein of spitting in his direction during the match.He has been suspended from the Australian Institute of Sport Tour Program.

I cannot believe Klein used the racial slur just because he lost a point.

I think that it will be. There are many young people that are fans of Michael Jackson. It was reported that never before have people gathered at the coroner's office with a vigil of this size.

Every place that had any connection to Michael in the United States was surrounded with fans. Motown in Detroit, his childhood home in Gary, Indiana, his star on Hollywood Blvd., UCLA Hospital, his rented home in Holmby Hills in Los Angeles, the Apollo Theatre in New York.

I have some relatives and their children that were crying very hard over the death. I remember when my children were small, I took them to a charitable event where we met Michael and the Jackson 5.

I thought then when I saw Michael that he was destined for greatness. He had a lovely smile and was just jumping around. He was so hyper. A former manager of Michael's said " he reminded him of a young Sammy Davis Jr. "

When my youngest son was young, I took him to the Victory Tour Concert to see the Jackson 5 and also to a Michael Jackson concert. He was a big Michael Jackson fan then. He is forty years old now. A few years ago I gave my nephew all of my Michael Jackson tapes and he played them so much they will have to be replaced now.

Jenny Sanford, wife of South Carolina Governor is a hero to all women. She is a very strong woman and mother. She has dignity and self respect for herself and her kids. She is not letting any party, advisers or lawyers tell her what to say.

I am so proud of her that she did not stand next to her husband while he made his announcement of infidelity. Not like the other wives who stood there like a grinning chess cat looking stupid.

SUPREME COURT REJECTS INMATE RIGHT TO DNA TESTS

The court ruled that prisoners have no constitutional right to DNA testing that might prove their innocence. The case before the court concerned Alaska which has no DNA testing laws.

Justice John Paul Stevens said the constitution's due process clause required Mr. William G. Osborne to have access to DNA evidence in his case. He was convicted in 1994 of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a prostitute in Anchorage.

Only 4 states- Alabama, Alaska, Massachusetts and Oklahoma do not have the DNA testing law. Prosecutors often fight hard to deny prisoners access to DNA evidence. No prisoner has ever obtained DNA evidence for testing in Alaska.

Justice Alito, Kennedy and Thomas agreed with the appeals court that the testing be denied. Alito said "prisoners would be given a right to rummage through the state's genetic-evidence locker", and DNA "often fails to provide absolute proof of anything" .

We really need Judge Sonia Sotomayor to come aboard. The legal community is eagerly awaiting for the sparks to fly between those two. The innocence Project is working with Mr. Osborne to try to obtain his DNA testing.

BRITISH FAMILY WAS HELD AT GUNPOINT IN EGYPT OVER FLU PANIC.

Mr. Harbut, from Southampton, wife Sasha and four children-Echo, two, Lennon, five, Nikita, seven, and Nathaniel, eight,were held in quarantine while on holiday in Egypt.

He tried to escape the isolation unit but there was no way out. The family was not allowed out of the hospital. As he walked toward the front gates, the armed guards came toward him holding their guns.

After all of the tests were confirmed as negative, he was allowed out of the hospital.

WILL AMTRAK GET SOME STIMULUS MONEY ??

I hope that Amtrak will get some of the stimulus money. The route from New Orleans and Florida has been discontinued for years now. The service was suspended after the Katrina Hurricane due to track damage.

Years ago a train fell into the river in Alabama because of the deterioration of the tracks. The reports were supposedly filed every year that the tracks were inspected but that was not the case.

CALGARY SHELTER SCANS FINGERPRINTS OF HOMELESS

The shelter has problems with gang members and drug dealers sneaking into the facility. Dermot Baldwin, head of the Calgary Drop-In Center, said people who have been barred from the shelter use fake indentification to get in.

The shelter is testing a new $150,000 security system that scans the clients fingerprints. Brian Edy, a civil rights lawyer, wants them to use metal detectors or install lockers instead of fingerprinting.

The shelter beefed up security after a 2007 survey of it's clients showed they feared for their safety.

President Barak Obama and his head green person, Van Jones, have a plan that will solve the green crises. 5 million new green-collar jobs that will stimulate the economy. The report surveyed 4,000 businesses around the world. US corporations have off shored more than 22,000 new green-collar jobs to India alone. Indian labor suppliers have invested in hardware,waste disposal, recycling, and eco-friendly buildings.

Former Rep. Tim Roemer of Indiana, a Democrat who served on the Sept. 11 commission, was selected to be ambassador to New Delhi.

Charles Rivkin, a former homeland security advisor as ambassador to France.

John Roos, an Internet lawyer as a top diplomat to Japan.

These nominations will require confirmation by the senate.

IS SENATOR McCAIN SETTING A TRAP FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA

Senator John McCain is saying that President Obama should show some compassion for the protesters in Iran. It was he who a few months was singing the song "bomb,bomb, Iran".

He and other Republicans are trying to set the bait for President Barak Obama to come out with an iron hand and side with the protesters over the government of Iran. They did the same thing with President Carter and the Iran Hostages and also President Lyndon Johnson and the war in Vietnam.

They hounded President Carter so much that I think he didn't want a second term. He just wanted out of there. And President Johnson did not seek the re-election. They also hounded President Clinton about the Monica deal.

They just want things to go wrong so they can criticize the president.They are looking for a platform for their next person to run against the president. The president has enough on his plate with two wars going on. Also South Korea is a top priority.

I don't know who they will put up as an opponet against President Obama. Everyone they trot out is not going to win. I have not seen one person that I would vote for. They are all in the old guard.

If John McCain had spoken up then as he is speaking up now maybe he would be president. But he listened to the bigwigs in the party instead of going with his own gut feelings.

FDA URGES CONSUMERS TO STOP USING HEALTH REMEDY

Federal health regulators say consumers should stop using ZICAM Cold Remedy and related products. The products can permanently damage the sense of smell. The product contains zinc, an ingredient that may damage nerves in the nose needed for smell.

The FDA says about 130 consumers have reported a loss of smell after using Matrixx Initiatives ZICAM. products since 1999. The FDA says ZICAM was never formally approved because it is a homeopathic product. There have been over 800 consumer complaints about ZICAM. Mattrix has settled hundreds of lawsuits in recent years but on the web denies any lawsuits.

BUSH ADMINISTRATION TRIED TO KEEP WHITE HOUSE VISITORS A SECRET

A federal judge rejected the Bush Administration's attempt to keep secret the identities of White House visitors and declared that the government illegally deleted Secret Service computer records.

U S District Judge Royce Lamberth concluded that the deletions took place before October 2004 when the Secret Service transferred large numbers of entry and exit logs to the White House and then deleted copies of them.

The deletions ceased after the archivist to the United States instructed the Secret Service to stop the practice and after various private organizations went to court in an effort to gain access to the logs, according to the papers filed in the case. The deletions go back at least as far as 2001

Why is President Barak Obama dissing fat people ? He states " overweight people costs the nation's economy billions of dollars a year". Two-thirds of adults age 20 or over are overweight or obese.Thirty two percent of people are obese.

Talk show host Michael Savage advocates concentration camps for fat people. How can they be so cruel ? When New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson grew a beard upon withdrawing his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination , he said it was to "hide one of his chins"

Everyone cannot be of the same body composition as the president. Some people that are overweight feel perfectly healthy. But the president feels they are a drain on society and that's why our health costs are looming out of control. And he feels that obesity causes diabetes and numerous other diseases.

Sarah Palin , Alaska Governor and former Republican Vice Presidential nominee ,was chosen to be the keynote speaker for the Republican fundraiser, but there was a mix-up and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was selected.

Palin was finally designated as a special guest. Sarah Palin must now be very selective about the appearances that she makes.

The GOP treated her very shabbily when she did not get the results they wanted from her. She doesn't want to go down like Joe the plumber. They just chewed him up and spit him out. They have no more use for him.

I think now is the time for her to think about her own interests and if she plays her cards right,she will get the support of the moderates and women for any office she may choose to run for.

ANIMAL LIBERATION GROUPS PROTESTING EATING OF KANGAROOS

The groups are continuing to protest the shooting and consumption of Kangaroos in Australia. VIVA (Vegetarians International Voice for Animals), have successfully pressured British wholesale grocery chain,Makro, to withdraw Kangaroo steaks from it's shelves.

Viva is calling this a victory, but the Kangaroo Industry Association of Australia says the meats in domestic and overseas markets continue to rise.

WHY ARE WE BEING FORCED TO ACCEPT DIGITAL TV

Over 3 million households in the US will lose their reception this Friday. Are the cable companies and the FCC in cahoots with this. They are trying to force this on the low income people and seniors. The US is one of the first countries to go to digital broadcasts.

Most countries will install digital in phases across their country. The government ran out of vouches. When the seniors go into the electronic stores, they try to push some extra equipment on them.

Now these people will have to rely on talk radio for the news . So I can imagine Rush Limbaugh will get more listeners.

The FCC's acting chairman, Michael Copps, said " anyone who thinks there will be another delay had better wake up and smell the converter box".

A survey showed at the end of May that more than 10 per cent of the 114 million household that have television sets are completely or partially unprepared.

DID STARBUCKS DOUBLE-CHARGE YOU OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Starbucks accidentally charged as many as one million customers twice for their purchases but recognized the error and is working to reimburse them.

Starbucks spokeswoman Trina Smith said all US and Canadian customers who used a debit or credit card over the holiday weekend would be reimbursed. The customers should have seen a credit applied to their account by May 29TH

Do you see a change in your neighborhood ? I certainly do in mine. I am a bit disturbed about it. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, and because of those darn Republicans, life as I knew it is no longer going to exist.

I looked out of the window the other day and I saw about 20 or 30 young boys up to age ten or twelve playing in the street. Where did they come from ? Three or four cars in a driveway. In the past, our cars were only in the garage.

I know I am not the only person wondering what to do. I don't live in a senior community, but everyone in the area were middle aged adults. Now relatives are moving in with each other because of the economy.

20010 CENSUS : HAS EVERYONE BEEN COUNTED ?

Some enumerators and supervisors have left their jobs at the census. They thought they were going to work about two or three months. What's going on ? Maybe the GOP were on to something when they raised a ruckus about the Obama Administration taking over the reins from the Department of Commerce.

How can they have possibly counted everyone in these towns ? I have never seen any enumerators in my town. And no one I know has seen a census worker. With the billions of dollars that were allotted to the census, what happened to it ? The census workers were on call and didn't work everyday. And for them to work only two weeks, it is a disgrace.

Genealogists and city governments depend on the accuracy of the census and I am wondering if this time around, things are kosher. Time will tell.

The GOP will likely let Jeff Sessions, (Rep) Al. , be the one to lead the questioning. Sessions was Reagan's choice for U S District Court in Alabama in 1986.
He tried to prosecute three civil rights workers, one who was a former aide to Martin Luther King, Jr.on a case of voter fraud. He was unsuccessful.

He labeled the National Association For Colored People (NAACP), and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), "un-american" and "communist-inspired". Sessions called a white civil rights lawyer a "disgrace to his race"

Sessions said most of the time he had been joking and was sometimes "loose with his tongue". He also admitted to calling the Voting Rights Act of 1965 " a piece of intrusive legislation". I think the confirmation hearings will be lively.

WAS SONIA SOTOMAYOR JUST TALKING SMACK ?

Is Sonia Sotomayor a racist or was she just talking smack ? Are the comments she made about white men her attempt at humor ? This is the same thing that got Michael Steele in trouble on CNN and forced Andrew Young to resign from the board of Walmart.

Judge Sotomayor is brilliant but what the people want to know is, if there is a dark side to her. So maybe these things will be cleared up in the confirmation hearings.

Why doesn't Norm Coleman step aside and let Franken be seated ? I wonder how his family feels about this ? Is this how he wants to be remembered ? He has not thought about his legacy. Coleman accused Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of backing out of an agreement to let Coleman's staffers wrap up constituent cases, leaving 400 cases open.

Reid denied there was ever a deal.Coleman said Reid agreed to let his staffers take 60 days from the end of his term to wrap up the cases. A Reid spokesman said the Senate could not allow staff to do constituent work if they are not under the supervision of a senator because Norm Coleman was no longer a senator.

If Coleman had won by a landslide,it would say something about the voters. Maybe that's why they wanted him out because he wasn't taking action on their cases. I think he will be forever know as a sore loser who refused to give up when clearly the voters spoke.

General Motors has been after the American public for the last year to buy American, and now they want to import GM cars from Korea, and Mexico to the US. How can they be so thoughtless? Americans went out and bought cars so they could keep an American namesake.

Then they humiliated us by giving the huge bonuses and giving extravagant parties and flying private company jets. This was a slap in the face to the American people.

Now we see the current president every day. Every time we turn on our t.v.'s he's there.We are getting an over saturation of the president. He is over exposed. And I thought that Beyonce was the only person that I cringed every time I turned on t.v. She was everywhere.

It seems like that is the case. The Bush administration left with a dismal rating so they are now trying to bolster up the ratings and get a favorable legacy. It is a good thing that Cheney is releasing papers that will set the record straight.Some of the Dems are saying they knew nothing of the torture but they have been called on it.

I think every little thing that comes out will be dissected and there will be a rebuttal. Cheney is not going to go away like Rumsfield. He is going to fight for his legacy and reputation. Even Condolezza Rice is trying to clean things up.

Why do our elected GOP officials wives not have a voice ? We never hear from them. They are always kept ten paces behind them. Are they individuals and have a voice of their own ? Can they let us know what's on their minds ?

Is that why first lady Laura Bush is doing all these public service announcements now ? Is she wondering what her legacy will be ? I had seen her a few times speaking on education and libraries. But nothing else.

I was wondering what they will put in the George W Bush Library about her. She and her daughters were kept in the background. I wish that we had seen more of them to see what type of personalities they had. The public didn't even get to see the wedding pictures of their daughter.

WHY IS THE PRESS CORP DISSING FORMER PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH ??

The press corp has been staying seated whenever former president George W. Bush enters a room. Why is this? It has always been that when a president enters a room, people stand.

When Bush was in office, he did alienate some of the press. He bypassed the corp and went directly to the papers and some of the cable news hosts with leaks. And the time when he closed the press room and said it was being enlarged and remodeled.

I don't care what their personal problems are with the president, I think they should offer him the courtesy and respect of being the former leader of our country.I guess they have all seen the Frost/Nixon movie.

DAUGHTER LEFT MOTHER TO BE EATEN BY MAGGOTS

A woman allowed her mother to be eaten alive by maggots and left her dying on a floor surrounded by her own waste. Her home in the Melbourne suburb of St. Albans in Australia smelt like a "rotten corpse" according to court records. Paramedics found her lying on her kitchen floor with gangrenous legs.

The 72 year old woman's right leg was gangrenous from knee to foot and was being eaten by maggots and her body was covered in ulcers. Ms. Kateryna Pyrczak was taken to the hospital , but died later that night.Her daughter and sole care giver Mary Eve Pyrczak 49, appeared in court and charged with negligently killing her mother.

Pyrczak allegedly told police she did not call an ambulance because she feared it would cost $800 dollars. The home was littered with cans of fly spray and air fresheners. The officer said the foot was being eaten away by the maggots.The mother was surrounded by a number of liters of human waste when discovered.

The court strongly opposed bail. They think a strong message needs to be sent out to caregivers in our society that this sort of conduct will not be tolerated. A similar case is being tried at this time in California with two daughters accused of causing the death of their mother due to negligence.

AUSTRALIA GEARING UP IT'S MILITARY POWER

Australia is gearing up it's military power as America's power wanes. The Defense White Paper released today in Australia stated that military capacity needs bolstering to deal with the rise of China and the possible decline of American influence in the region.

The paper made it clear that Australia would not follow it's main ally to expeditionary conflicts such as the Iraq war unless there was a threat to their "wider strategic interests".

They stated to never put themselves in a position where the price of their own security is a requirement to put Australian troops at risk in distant wars where there were no direct interests at stake.

The paper says the next priority was to insure stability and security in the South Pacific and East Timor. It detailed a massive list of military hardware at a cost of more than $100 billion.Very long range submarines with cruise missiles and state of the art Joint Strike Fighters.

The paper points to China as a possible threat in a future world where the power of Australia's key ally, the U.S. gradually declines.The document states that the biggest change in the world since 2000 is the rise of China and the emergence of India and the beginning of the end of dominance of the U.S.

WHY IS MAGIC JOHNSON A PITCHMAN FOR A RENT-TO- OWN COMPANY ?

Magic Johnson is a pitchman for a rent-to own company. Why would he do that when he is supposed to be a champion for giving jobs to urban young persons. These companies are the reason why these young persons are on these TV court shows. If they miss one payment on the items, they are repossessed. I have heard of persons who were a few payments from paying the item off and they lost the item.

There was a person who was paying fifty dollars a month for a DVD player ,and I told them to go to Circuit City and pay a total of thirty nine dollars for one. Magic is saying that a person can get the best things in life right now. These young people's credit will be messed up for the rest of their lives.

If they a working on a minimum wage job, they should wait until they can afford a high ticket item. This is the wrong message to send to them. There are places that rent rims for cars. Why should a young teen buy rims that the NBA players have that cost 3 or 4 thousand dollars or more ? There is something wrong with this picture.

When Are WE Going to Get Over It?

For much of the last forty years, ever since America "fixed" its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, "When are African Americans finally going to get over it? Now I want to ask: "When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color?
Recent reports that "Election Spurs Hundreds' of Race Threats, Crimes" should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in "Bombingham," Alabama in the 1960s, I remember overhearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than "talk the talk."
Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood.
We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent. Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Even during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes. Call for their impeachment, perhaps. But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster.

But elect a liberal who happens to be Black and we're back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we've proven what conservatives are always saying -- that in America anything is possible, EVEN electing a black man as president. But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking about wanting to "assassinate Obama."

Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, "How long?" How long before we white people realize we can't make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us? How long until we white people can - once and for all - get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color? How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior? How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites?
How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin? How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations?

I believe in free speech, but how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners? How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do?
How long before we starting "living out the true meaning" of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that "red and yellow, black and white" all are precious in God's sight?

Until this past November 4, I didn't believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don't believe I'll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem. But here's my three-point plan: First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built, I'm going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people.

Second, I'm going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama. Third, I'm going to pray to live long enough to see America surprise the world once again, when white people can "in spirit and in truth" sing of our damnable color prejudice, "We HAVE overcome."

CHINA IS WORRIED ABOUT IT'S ASSETS

China is concerned about it's assets. $2 trillion worth of foreign reserves in U S dollars. They want the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to monitor the U S just as closely as it has overseen struggling Third world Countries.

Many nations feel that the U S is no longer a major player in the worlds economy and want to replace the dollar with an alternative.

Octuplet mom Nadya Suleman is making a mistake. She has fired Angels in Waiting which had provided free nanny service.She installed a jacuzzi instead of improving security, according to Gloria Allred,attorney for Angels in Waiting.

I think Suleman wants to record her reality videos 24/7 without the nurses to protest. God forbid if anything happens to the babies, it will be on Nadya and her advisers and Attorneys hands.

Dr. Phil has also distanced himself from Suleman. I think she only went along with Angels in waiting to get the children home and then planned on firing them all along. Dr. Phil and Gloria Allred are the only ones in America who offered to help her. She bit the hands of the only ones who helped her.

GOP 'S ARE BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY THEIR OWN PARTY

it seems to me that many Republican politicians are being held hostage by their own party. They cannot speak their own mind or speak independently. If they do, then they will not have the support of the party.

When I saw Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal give the rebuttal to the president, he looked like a deer in the headlight. He was stiff and seemed to be reading a speech that was prepared for him.

He was not the same Bobby Jindal I had seen many times before. He was very stiff and tense. It seems like some of these politicians are afraid of their own shadow and they don't want to rock the boat. The party has told people in the past they were not going to support them in upcoming elections,so they retire.

We have lost some good people because they would not get the fund raising and endorsements of the party. There are a few people that I thought might have been good presidents but did not have the support.

RUSH LIMBAUGH, THE GREAT MANIPULATOR

Rush really does have his act together. He has it down pat. He can take a topic that you have strong views on, and after he puts his spin on it, you will accept his version. That's why he is a master at what he does.

I think it was a disgrace for him to state that he wanted to debate the President of America on his show. When I saw him at the recent CPAC meeting, he was jumping up and down just like he was ready to go into the WWF ring for a bout.

A journalist on the BBC stated that American politics reminded him of the WWF.I used to listen to Limbaugh every day at work until his Oxycontin saga. Then I lost interest.

DEMOCRATS IN AN UPROAR ABOUT LIMBAUGH'S COMMENT ON KENNEDY

Rush Limbaugh said "before it's all over, it'll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care Bill". On his radio show, Limbaugh said President Barak Obama's proposed health care revisions will be championed by "the liberal lion Ted Kennedy".

It is so distasteful that he is talking like this.

THE OLD JOHN McCAIN IS BACK

If John Mc Cain had kept to his gut feeling, who knows what the outcome would have been in the 2008 elections. It seems like he is back in form. But it is too late now. He should have taken action and named Minn. Governor Tim Pawlenty as his running mate as he wanted and rejected Sara Palin and Joe The Plumber.

It seems so sad to see him to argue his case against the stimulus package and the pork in it. He didn't have this fire in his belly on his campaign stops.

DID CNN CANCEL D L HUGHLEY'S SHOW BECAUSE OF MICHAEL STEEL CONTROVERSY ??

I am wondering if D. L. Hughley's show was cancelled by CNN because of the conflict between Steel/ Limbaugh ? If so this is the same thing ABC did to Bill Mahr . I did not look at the show unless I stumbled upon it while surfing.

The show wasn't that bad . Well, another one bites the dust. Arsenio Hall was another casualty. Michael Steel was out of character that night. Maybe he should stick to written scripts.

But he should not have apologized. If what he said was sincere, there was no need for one. The GOP always critique their members, and they hold their feet to the fire. If they don't keep to the accepted speech by the party, their money will be cut off at the next election.

When I heard Eagleburger take back what he had said about Sara Palin on NPR the next day, he lost all cred ability with me. He was probably told he would not be invited to give any lectures and his books would be blacklisted.
