FDA URGES CONSUMERS TO STOP USING HEALTH REMEDY

Federal health regulators say consumers should stop using ZICAM Cold Remedy and related products. The products can permanently damage the sense of smell. The product contains zinc, an ingredient that may damage nerves in the nose needed for smell.

The FDA says about 130 consumers have reported a loss of smell after using Matrixx Initiatives ZICAM. products since 1999. The FDA says ZICAM was never formally approved because it is a homeopathic product. There have been over 800 consumer complaints about ZICAM. Mattrix has settled hundreds of lawsuits in recent years but on the web denies any lawsuits.
