(UNICEF) HOW 25 WEALTHY NATIONS TREAT THEIR YOUNG

The United Nations Children's fund, (UNICEF) has just completed a survey of how 25 wealthy nations treat their young people. There were 10 benchmark indicators outlining basic minimum standards for early childhood services.

Public expenditures on child care and preschool education services are at just 0.4 per cent of GDP. UNICEF recommends 1 per cent of GDP as an appropriate level of expenditure. Nearly 80 per cent of the world's three-to six-year old's. are now in some form of early childhood education and care.
