This is a good post from Matt Mendelsohn in the Huffington Post
McCain: A Tragedy in Three Scenes
Scene 1. A polling place.
First Witch:
When shall we three meet again,
Second Witch:
In Florida, Texas, or in Maine?
When the hurly-burly's done,
When the 'lection's lost and won.
Third Witch:
That will be ere the set of sun.
First Witch:
Where the place?
Second Witch:
Upon the plain.
Third Witch:
There to meet with John McCain.
He's getting desperate, just our style.
Let's let his anger stew awhile.
First Witch:
But first, the Tar Heel state doth beckon.
Second Witch:
Yes, it's sister Liddy, I do reckon.
Third Witch:
Anon!
All:
Fair is foul, and foul is fair:
North Carolina needs some godless air.
Exeunt
Scene II. A field outside Raleigh.
First Witch:
Sister Liddy, how goeth it?
Second Witch:
So fareth, so goodeth, Sister Ann.
When we're through with that Pagan woman,
the voters will thinketh she be one of us.
Third Witch:
'Tis good. But methinks her name be Hagan, not Pagan.
Second Witch:
Pagan, Hagan, whoeth is counting, Sister Bachmann?
Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon.
But voting in November, facts they won't remember.
Third Witch:
Too trueth, too trueth!
Though facts were scarce, folks got the gist
When I called Obama a terrorist.
(The witches laugh and dance.)
First Witch:
What be the weapon of choice, Sister Liddy?
The dagger or the poison?
Second Witch:
Worse, Sister Ann. Character assassination!
Upon the hour an ad will air,
Which goeth beyond the bounds of fair.
We'll have her claim there is no God,
A ring and run and I'll get the nod.
All:
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
'Tis always good to get the voters pissed.
By labeling one an atheist.
Exeunt
Scene III. A Campaign Plane.
First Witch:
A drum, a drum!
McCain doth come.
McCain:
Speak, if you can: what are you?
First Witch:
All hail, McCain! Hail to thee, thane of Tempe!
Second Witch:
All hail, McCain, hail to thee, thane of Temper!
Third Witch:
All hail, McCain, thou shalt be president hereafter!
First Witch:
Lesser than Obama, and greater.
Second Witch:
Not so eloquent, and lots more air quotation marks.
Third Witch (to Palin):
Thou shalt get presidents, though thou be none:
So all hail, McCain and Palin!
Palin:
You betcha, witches!
Though English Lit is not my bag,
I know enough to respect a hag
Who telleth me good things will come,
Wink wink, nudge nudge, my brain is numb.
Though Todd may be a simple musher,
My ambition runs straight through to Russia.
Big things, bright lights, the world 'tis mine,
Just one week more, must tow the line.
Keep up pretense to Lady McCain,
and four more years will be thy reign.
What troublest thou, McCain?
They said you would be president.
Is that not what those witches meant?
McCain:
They said your children shall be presidents. Methinks they meant
pregnant, not president.
Palin:
Heyest, now -- don't goest there.
McCain:
If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well
this 'lection were done with quickly.
I can hold on five more days,
no matter what Chris Matthews says.
I can scare a nation straight,
with talk of Marx, of tax, of hate.
My men can pull some 'lection pranks,
and cause dissent among the ranks.
But I am afraid to think what I have done;
Once a maverick, when I was young.
But now I'll do just what it takes,
I'll say anything, for goodness sakes.
And when you though things couldn't get dumber
I hung my hopes on Joe the Plumber.
Ambition is a funny thing --
Change -- no, not that change! -- it doth bring.
These weird witches, the truth they speak;
I might be president this time next week.
But witches messeth with your head,
It just might be Barack instead.
Exeunt.

ARE THESE POLITICAL PUNDITS GROVELING AND BEGGING FOR JOBS, SUCH AS SPEECH WRITING ?
It seems to me to be the case. These guys are on cable every night praising Governor Sarah Palin and Joe the plumber. Sometimes they can't get the words out and stumble over them if asked a question out of their talking points.
They think the American public is so dumb and is dumbing down the public for their own gain. It is so disgusting. I don't know when the spinning stops and the real conversation begins. I am just thinking about their children and if they have any respect for them.
When I go to San Diego and stay at one of their luxury hotels and two blocks away there are hundreds of homeless and runaway kids camped out on the sidewalk. Some of these kids parents say "do as I tell you and not as I do". I believe they think their parents are hypocrites.
The parking at this hotel was valet parking only and costs 22.00 a night. There was no other option. I guess it was for the guests safety.

TACTICS TO KEEP COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM VOTING
TOP STORY
Friday, October 31, 2008State laws pose hurdles for student votersBy Christina M. Wright, Special to Stateline.org
College students who registered to vote in the state where they attend school have faced sometimes daunting regulations that vary from state to state. And they may confront one more hurdle — showing acceptable identification at the polls.
While the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1979 that students can register to vote at their college address, a wide range of state laws, some made stricter since the 2004 elections, and some questionable interpretation by local registrars have deterred some young voters from registering.
Seven states, most of them battleground states, have laws that make it more difficult than others for out-of-state students to establish residency where they attend school, register to vote there and verify their identity at the polls, according to the Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University Law School. They are Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio and Virginia.
The center, which studies how voting laws affect students, flagged Indiana and Florida as having the most rigorous residency verification.
In Florida, each voter must present a photo ID with a signature and an address in the voting district. That can pose problems for students whose driver’s licenses often carry their home address and whose student IDs often don’t have a signature or address.
Indiana requires voters to present a photo ID that has an expiration date and is issued by the state of Indiana or the federal government.
While some states allow others forms of identification to register, such as utility bills, colleges often pay dorm utilities from student fees, leaving students without these documents.
Student voter rights are a hot topic this election season because college students voted in record numbers during the primaries and subsequent voter registration drives on campuses produced even more potential voters.
“This is the most active student electorate ever,” said Michele Jawando, a manager with the People For the American Way Foundation, which works to clarify state laws. “And the best tool for them to have is to know their rights.”
But student voter registration drives haven’t been without glitches. Permanent residency is the most debated registration regulation. College students usually claim their home address on official paperwork and their school address for paperwork mailed throughout the school year, creating confusion for state officials.
College students have been deterred from registering to vote in some states by fears or warnings that changing permanent residency could adversely affect the validity of their driver’s licenses and their parents’ claiming them as dependents on tax forms, financial aid, health and car insurance.
In August, a registrar in Montgomery County, Va., where Virginia Tech is located, issued statements — later reversed — warning students that they should weigh the consequences of changing permanent residency, prompting some students to quickly withdraw their registration. The official said that by registering at college, “you have declared your independence from your parents” for tax purposes and that the students could lose scholarships and were required to change addresses on driver’s license and car registration within 30 days.
Local officials later issued similar warnings in North Carolina and Colorado.
Jennifer Rosenberg, a Brennan Center fellow, said the project found none of those concerns valid. Almost nothing is affected by claiming permanent residency in another state for voting purposes, she said, and residency for voting is different than residency for federal matters.
“Students have had problems voting before,” Rosenberg said. “A lot of the local registrars don’t understand the rules; the poll workers don’t understand the rules.”
Another concern of advocates are states that look for some assurance that students will stay. Virginia requires a voter to “have a physical location where they intend to stay for an unlimited time,” according to the state’s elections board. The regulation is a bit unclear, but Rosenberg said it cannot require students to declare that they will remain in Virginia after graduation.
“We believe states that require students to stay in-state after graduation are unconstitutional,” Rosenberg said.
Out-of-state college voters aiming to skip local voting issues by using absentee ballots from their home states also have run into various requirements.
Alaska, Missouri, Wisconsin and North Carolina require absentee ballots to be witnessed by at least one person. First-time Mississippi voters who registered by mail must supply a copy of an ID in the return packet, and all absentee ballots must be witnessed by a notary.
By far, the most strenuous regulation in all the battleground states is in Michigan, which requires first-time voters to either register in person or vote in person.
Rashawn Mitchner, a Howard University senior from Michigan, said she registered in person this year while she was home for winter break and will vote from Washington, D.C., by absentee ballot. But some fellow Michigan students are not sure of their state’s laws.
“I know there is some confusion,” she said. “I did hear someone say on campus that they couldn’t vote because they have to be in person.”
Some states make it quite easy for out-of-state students to vote, according to the Brennan Center. Montana accepts a wide range of documents establishing residency, including cell phone and student housing bills. Iowa, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin are other battleground states with the least-daunting regulations.
“Some states just make it easier or understand the needs of these students,” Rosenberg said.
In response to these issues, the Student Voter Act of 2008, introduced by U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) in July, would require universities that receive federal funds to offer voter registration to students when they register for classes. “We should be making it easy,” Schakowsky said at a recent Capitol Hill conference.
Rosenberg said she thinks states make it harder for out-of-state persons to register in an effort to prevent these voters from taking control of the ballot, such as in a swing state where a few thousand votes could make the difference.
Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. made a plea in September to the 10,500 eligible students at his fundamental Baptist institution in Lynchburg, Va., to register locally. “Wouldn't it be something if Liberty's votes were enough to change which presidential candidate won Virginia and maybe even the presidency itself,” Falwell said in a statement.

UNITED NATIONS REPORT ON THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT AND GROWING INEQUALITY
Growing inequality in US cities could lead to widespread social unrest and increased mortality, says a new United Nations report on the urban environment.
In a survey of 120 major cities, New York was found to be the ninth most unequal in the world and Atlanta, New Orleans, Washington, and Miami had similar inequality levels to those of Nairobi, Kenya Abidjan and Ivory Coast. Many were above an internationally recognised acceptable "alert" line used to warn governments.

JOHN MCCAIN'S CAMPAIGN LINKED TO VOTER REGISTRATION FIRM
John McCain's campaign has directed $175, 000.00 to the firm of a Republican who has been accused of voter registration fraud in several states. The RNC, McCain-Palin campaign and the California Republican Party made the payment to the group Sproul and Associates (former name of Lincoln Strategy ) for registering voters.
The managing partner of that firm is Nathan Sproul. He has been investigatedmany times for suppressing Democratic voter turnout, throwing away registrations of minorities, and helping to get Ralph Nader on ballots to hinder the Democratic ticket.

TAINTED FEED KILLS 1,500 DOGS IN CHINA
The 1,500 raccoon dogs were bred for their fur that is used to trim coats and other clothing. The feed was tainted with melamine, it causes kidney stones.
The dogs died of kidney failure after eating the tainted feed, Zhang Wenkui, a veterinary professor at Shenyang Agriculture University said.
There is a crisis where the dairy products caused kidney stones in tens of thousands of children and has been linked to the deaths of four children.
The chemical has also been found to be in the edible body paint.

SURGE IN ATTACKS ON IMMIGRANTS IN ITALY
With the economic crisis under way, they are blaming the immigrants. People have been beaten and killed recently because they are accused of stealing work from Italians.
3.6 million legal immigrants were admitted last year. Italy needs the immigrants because of low birth rates and to boost the economy. A minister said the spectre of fascism is returning to Italy.

MEXICAN POLICE SEIZE LIONS AND TIGERS IN A RAID ON COLUMBIAN DRUG DEALERS
An impressive collection of rare big cats including an albino tiger is under Mexican police control after being seized in a raid on the Mexico City mansion of alleged Colombian drug traffickers. The private zoo was also home to an ordinary white tiger, a couple of black panthers, two African lions and a chimpanzee.
The house was covered in elaborate wooden carvings in styles ranging from ancient Greek to Indian. An artificial lake in the grounds contained fibreglass sculptures of two crocodiles and a hippopotamus. One room in the house contained a very large buddha.
The raid, on Saturday, resulted in the arrest of 11 Colombians, two Mexicans, a Uruguayan, and a US citizen.

DID THE SECRET SERVICE SPIRIT BARAK OBAMA OUT OF THE MAINLAND !
I was just sitting here wondering if the Secret Service had to get Senator Barak Obama out of the mainland ? Since Colin Powell endorsed him yesterday, some of the anchor persons, politicians, and talking heads have been spewing hatred like rabid dogs.
I am thinking they could not protect him adequately here on the campaign trail. I am enthusiastic that we know who these racist people are and people all over the world know also.
I hope that in the future it will hurt them in their pocketbook in their book sales and speaking engagements. Their fellow co-workers will not call them out on it but I know they will never forget .

NORMANDY HIGH SCHOOL IN ST. LOUIS : AIDS SCARE
Parents were notified that as many as 50 students may have been exposed to the HIV VIRUS. They will not give the name of the infected person, but they want kids to be tested.
The testing will start in two weeks. Why does it take this long to be tested? I am wondering if the testing will start on election day or the day before. We will have to wait and see, if this is a tactic to keep people from voting.

DOES THE AVERAGE AMERICAN HAVE TO READ THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER TO GET THE NEWS ?
It seems that way to me. It seems like the media is shying away from the news because of the fear of bashing someone. Like Joe the plumber. Why are the republicans mentioning his name after the fact that he was a liar.
Whenever I turn on the t v and he is on, I click the clicker. He was caught in so many lies that I don.t believe anything that he says. I know his neighbors and family members alerted the media that he was not all he cracked up to be.
When I look at Joe the plumber, I think about the people who pad their resumes and people who wear medals and claim they were highly decorated vets.

I AM SO GLAD THAT JOHN McCAIN SHOWED SOME CLASS
I am so glad that John McCain showed some class by renouncing the bigots at his rally. He knows that whether he wins or loses, he will have to work in Washington. And he does not want to be shunned.
His supporters and handlers didn't want him to come out and stop the attacks on Barak Obama. But that shows he has some decency left. He is bringing out the David Dukes and the Timothy McVeigh's at those rally's.
If someone leaves his rally and group attack someone, he will get blamed for riling them up . I hope he isn't looking at those talking heads on cable. I don't look at fox and sometimes I have to turn off NPR because they go too far left sometimes.
The way things are going now I think it will be a toss-up as to who will win this election. It is so close.

WILL YOU CARE WHO THE PRESIDENT IS IF YOU LOSE YOUR JOB AND HOUSE NEXT YEAR ?
All this fretting over a Black man being elected president will be furthest from your mind if you have to stand in a soup line or sleep in your car next year. In Santa Barbara, some of their wealthiest citizens are sleeping in their cars in a park.
I have been working in political campaigns since 1965 and they were White men. I did not show any prejudice to them and they accepted me and respected me.
With these two political parties , there are two cliques in Washington, and they change places every two or four years. That's why the Jehovah Witnesses do not vote, it is the same old thing, no matter which party gets in.
I am just worried about the Supreme Court Justices and Administration officials that will be hired. And I want the people in their cities to rise up and replace their leaders in Washington that do not have the best wishes of the people in heart.

WHY DO SOME WHITES THINK ALL BLACKS ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA ?
There are some Black Republican Clubs all over America. They are voting for McCain. They are not voting against a Black man, they are voting for the party of their choice. I know many Black Republicans.
I haven't seen much of them lately, maybe because they are afraid they may get stoned, Ha-Ha-Ha.I think some Whites think that if Obama gets elected, he will cater to Blacks.
I do not think this is so. He was not reared around Blacks. He lived a cosmopolitan life. He is tolerant of many cultures. Do you think that Oprah Winfrey caters only to Blacks? When she rewards people on her show for their good works, color doesn't even matter.
Also Tiger Woods, he is not surrounded by Blacks. He is not in the regular guys world. He is surrounded by his handlers. So is the case with Barak Obama. If a person thinks he will get to see him, they are mistaken.
They will have to go through so many handlers, he may not ever get a message. So to think he will desecrate the White House, that is ignorance. He is a very educated, intelligent man and he has street smarts. He has traveled all over the world, so he will not fall for the okey-doke.

JOHN McCAIN IS BRINGING OUT THE CRAZIES
Why is he doing this ? It seems like Sarah Palin is catering to the fringe groups. Do they want the Aryans, skinheads, stoners and militia in their camp? How are they going to distance themselves from these groups if they win the election? The world is watching. I would hope they would take note of the foreign press and get their take on this.

IF McCAIN WINS WHAT WILL HIS APPROVAL RATING BE IN THE FIRST FEW DAYS ?
I think the approval rating will be lower that George Bush has now. I am shuddering to think about it. He will be the O J of politics. How low can you go.
I have never seen gutter politics like this and I have worked in campaigns since 1965. I don't think the stench will ever go away.

THE MOST COSTLY SAVINGS AND LOAN FAILURE EVER
In 1987 the federal regulators were investigating Charles H Keating Jr. of Lincoln Savings and Loan. He was a big contributor to senators Dennis DeConcini and John McCain of Arizona, Alan Cranston of California, John Glenn of Ohio, and Don Riegle of Michigan.
He urged the senators to stall and block the regulators. But by 1989 the regulators seized Lincoln. Some of the Senators were censured and some were reprimanded on the senate floor. Lincoln S& L collapsed in 1989 and was bailed out by the government for 2 billion. 23,000 pensioners lost their savings.
The Arizona Republican Assembly voted unanimously to censure State Senator John McCain in June of 2005, during it's annual state convention. The reasons were the Amnesty Bill for Illegal Aliens, ignoring constitutional concerns with his campaign finance reform law.

MOSCOW CALLS FOR ANTI-U S ALLIANCE
The President of Russia has called on Europe's leaders to create a New World Order that would minimize the role of the United States. Dimitry Medvedev arrived in Evian France Wednesday to woo his fellow leaders into creating an anti-U S front.
Medvedev outlined plans for a new security pact to ban the use of force in Europe. He was playing the divide-and-rule tatics of Vladimir Putin. He proposed creating new financial systems to challenge the dominance of the IMF and the WTO, both of which had fallen under Washington's spell.

IF JOHN McCAIN ISN'T ELECTED WILL HE BE WELCOMED BACK INTO THE SENATE ?
If he isn't elected, will he be welcomed back into the senate with open arms? Or will he be shunned? He upset many legislaturers when he went to Washington and cancelled his campaign.
He was not on the committee so he could not sit in on the negotiations. He was just doing it for a photo op. Also when he went to the White House for the meet with President Bush.
He did not say anything in the meeting or ask any questions. They were confused as to why he wanted the meeting and did not say anything when they convened.I know he says he is a maverick but is this to his detriment ?

CADBURY, A BRITISH CONFECTIONER HAS RECALLED 11 OF IT'S CHINESE - MADE CANDY PRODUCTS
The candy was made in the company's plant in Bejing. Almost 53,000 children in China are sick from the formula with traces of melamine in it. Some babies have died.
Some of this candy is tainted with this milk. Mothers should be concerned because of halloween this month. Whenever I would go to the discount stores I would buy those giant bars with almonds or hazelnuts.

A DARK TIME IN JOHN MCCAIN'S LIFE
Senator John McCain has written that the Keating Five period was a dark time in his life, and he believed he made serious errors in judgement. He was reprimanded by the senate for his part in the scandal.
THE ALASKA PERMANENT FUND
The Alaska Permanent Fund at this time holds $ 22 million dollars in Sudan-linked investments, even though Governor Sarah Palin has said they had divested in them.
This is according to the non profit Sudan Divestment Task Force. The fund does not need the state legislature to divest itself of these holdings.

SARAH PALIN IS A SMEARMONGER
Sarah Palin is being used as a tool of the Republican Party for their advancement. I do not think she is doing justice to women of the world. I would not let someone use me to lose all self respect and inegrity for myself.
I am wondering how her children will view her in the years to come of her behavior. I wonder what she thinks when she looks in the mirror, does she have a shred of decency left.
She is so hungry for power that she would do anything for it. But she will realize that after the election she will not be accepted into the old boys network.

Former Mayor Rudy Giulani has begun to advise corporate clients on how to profit from the government's 700 billion dollar bailout. Bracewell and Giulani LLP has formed a corporate task force to advise investment funds, financial institutions, and investors about the package.
U S MINT HAS SUSPENDED THE SALE OF 24-KARAT GOLD COINS
The U S Mint can't keep up with the soaring demand as investors seek the safety of gold. Mint spokesman Michael White said sales were being suspended because of demand for the coin.
McCAIN IS USING PALIN AS HIS ATTACK DOG !!
Senator John McCain is using Governor Sarah Palin as his attack dog so he cannot be blamed for any damaging smears to the media. She will put anything out there that is put before her.
I hope that she would have enough gumption to say no against anything that she will not tolerate, and not let herself to be put out there with talking points.

DONALD TRUMP TO SUBPOENA NEW YORK TIMES PUBLISHER
Donald Trump will subpoena the New York Times publisher because a book written by a reporter Timothy O'Brien described him as a millionaire rather than a billionaire.
THE NEW YORK SUN TO CLOSE
The paper was founded in 2002. It was said to be an alternative to the New York Times. The senior managers say the paper needs "tens of millions of dollars" to survive.
WILL WARREN BUFFETT CHANGE THE MICKEY MOUSE EARS AT DISNEYLAND !!!
Since Warren Buffett has saved GE, will he change the look at Disneyland? He pumped $ 3 billion dollars into GE. GE also owns ABC and Disney. He stands to profit with $20 billion dollars.
SARAH PALIN HOLDING HER OWN BABY
Yesterday when Sarah Palin embarked off the plane, she was holding her own baby. Usually that task is delegated to someone else. I had never seen her holding the baby.
Was that just a photo op, or just in case she did not do well in the debate, she would get empathy from all the moms. She also had her arm bandaged from the fall she had at John McCain's compound.

COULD A FIFTH GRADER ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT KATIE COURIC AND CHARLIE GIPSON ASKED ?
It is a question that I would like to know the answer to. I was wondering. There was a show on recently by that title and some of the questions were difficult for the parents to answer.
POLITICIANS WHO ADDED PORK TO BAILOUT SHOULD BE CENSURED !!
I think that the politicians who added pork to the Bailout Bill should be censured .It is a disgrace. Have they forgotten about the people from Galveston and the victims of Hurricane Ike ? We want to know their names so they will not do another term in Washington.

WHO DOES FOX WANT TO REPLACE GWEN IFILL WITH ? HANNITY ???
Fox News wants Gwen Ifill replaced from the VP Debates. Who do they want to replace her ? Hannity ?
Ifill has published a book about Obama and they think it is grounds for Ifill's dismissal. No trick or gimmick will change the outcome of the debate.
Palin reminded me of Miss South Carolina in all of her interviews.

SOME BELIEVE THAT AMERICA HAS FALLEN FROM POWER
John Gray, wrote an article in The Observer, Sunday, September 28, 2008 about America' s position in the world:
The global financial crisis will see the US falter in the same way the Soviet Union did when the Berlin Wall came down. The era of American dominance is over
Our gaze might be on the markets melting down, but the upheaval we are experiencing is more than a financial crisis, however large. Here is a historic geopolitical shift, in which the balance of power in the world is being altered irrevocably. The era of American global leadership, reaching back to the Second World War, is over.

" THE DEBATES HAVE ABOUT AS MUCH INTEGRITY AS A WWF WRESTLING BOUT !!!
This is the view of the Washington Diarist Gary Younge. He spoke of the debates in the Guardian Weekly Global Network. All I can say is WOW !!
IS TODD PALIN THE REAL GOVERNOR OF ALASKA ?
It seems to me that Todd Palin is the real governor of Alaska. He is always there, instead of being a stay at home dad. It was said he attended all meetings of the governor in Alaska. And now he is on the platform at every rally.
He also travels with the campaign.I wonder if Sarah can deliver if Todd is not there ? Has he been the one that has been coaching her all these years ? Has he put her in the forefront, and he has stayed in the background ? Were all those ideas his instead of hers ?
