ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TRAINS IN THE REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA

The Army National Guard of Atlanta will train in the Republic of Georgia. They went for joint military exercises, and will be a part of "Immediate Response 2008" .

This will amount to the largest U S group near the border of Asia and Europe since the cold war began. The three week operation will provide training for the 48th Infantry Brigade's 1st Battalion 121st Infantry Regiment just months before a pending deployment to Afghanistan.

Atlanta's Maj. Matt Smith, 36, took over command of the 1-121 last month.
