I think Don Imus really fondly cared for Tim Russert. Tim would come on his show when many other politicians and journalists wouldn't. Imus would put their feet up against the fire, but Russert kept coming back for more.
He showed that he could withstand any insults that came his way. He was a likeable, loveable guy. I don't think I have ever heard anything unkind about him. He would ask hard questions but not come across as a jerk.
